Default Installing components... get rid of the factory tweeters?

I'm slightly confused about this... I'm going to go with a set of Memphis components and I'd like to know if I should disable the factory tweeters in the dash? I was into subs for years but now i'm getting into the other aspects of this hobby and i'm learning as I go. You guys with components, what are you doing with the stock dash speakers?

Absolutely replace the stock tweeters! But more than likely, especially in the xA, you will have to back down your xovers and eq for the tweeters due to the mounting location in the A pillars.

Kind Regards,
Matt

Are you saying to take out the dash tweeters that come with the car and just run the tweeters in the component set? That's what I'm asking is if you should get rid of the stock tweeters or use them in conjunction with the component set.

Get rid of the stock tweeters and replace them with the ones that came in your component set.

Kind Regards,
Matt

Ah ok, that's what I figured. I know some people have been replacing the small speakers with aftermarket but they must not have gone with component sets. Thanks BI!

Juse remember that if you are going for a real SQ install, the Scion tweet locations were made for "weak" tweets to provide great staging appearance. This means that you will have to tweak your tweeter settings (xovers, eq., etc). so that your front staging and imaging are correct, as well as your time alignment. Not sure what type of deck you are running but if you have an Alpine you'll be set for sure.

Kind Regards,
Matt

I have the Pioneer AVIC-N1 serving as my head unit, and I'm also planning on installing my Focal Access components up front. I was considering putting the midbass driver in the door ,ocation, and placing the tweeter in the Scion stock dash location. Will this create a major staging problem? The speakers are powered by a JL 300/4 BTW.

I have Arc Audio tweeters in my dash, Arc Audio 6.5 inch mids in custom fibreglass kick panels, and Ground Zero co-axials in my front doors. Sounds clean enuff to me.

That's the correct location if you are going for SQ. However, depending upon your musical preferences, you more than likely will have to back down your tweeters as the Focals can become very strong very quick and overpower the rest of your music. It's just a few simple adjustments and you'll be on your way.

Kind Regards,
Matt
