the thing about the stock speakers are, they are assembled factory, no aftermarket speakers are ever going to fit perfectly and be as perfectly made for the car as the factory ones are. Basically the warranty covers the factory speakers. Most aftermarket speakers you buy are based on the warranty of the speakers themselves and who installs them. Some installers do half ___ jobs just screwing them in, while others will actually build the backing and make them as close to stock as possible. When places just screw them in, theyre not fitting the way they are supposed to and could cause something like a door rattle, etc. This is what toyota is not liable for. If the plastic piece on your door cracked and you had an aftermarket speaker in, yea, Toyota can and probably will give you a hard time about it, even if it wasn't the speakers or installers fault, a hard time about this.

It's funny how scion makes these dammn commercials which the sole purpose for those commercials is to support personalization. But the moment u try to custom your scion u get a big fat VOID on your warranty.

Duh!!!

Of course you are right, engifineer, I just grabbed some numbers and didn't even bother to validate them as I should have. *sigh* I used to chide my engineer trainees about that sort of thing all the time - "Don't put a number down unless you've personally checked it."

Can I plead 'nolo contendre' and throw myself on the mercy of the court?

Let's see, uh, if the speakers were 4 ohm in the doors, feeding them 250W RMS would require almoast 8 A to be delivered by wires that would act as fuses (or heaters).

Can I blame some poor blood test results yesterday? No? OK.

I goofed.

(Seriously, thanks for catching the error, engifineer.)

Agreed. It's where SCION stops being hip and cool, and starts being a Stealership, IMHO.

They aren't voiding your warranty, the people who may have said that were either a) meaning that the part you replaced will not be warrantied by them or b) just plain wrong.

If you put different speakers in your car, they arent (and shouldnt be expected to) warranty them. If your installation destroys the stereo they arent (and shouldnt be expected to) warranty that. If it is unrelated then they will warranty it.

Also, scion corporate knows less about the speaker size than the person who called and asked the question. Plus, they arent going to have any part in reccomending parts of any kind since someone would then try to blame them if they broke something. Call your dealership parts department, car audio store, etc and see if they know the size... or just simply measure one.

OT, I know, but I have seen that quote ten times today, just so you know. I found that odd.

The factory sub option? I thought everyone knew about that...visit the scion.com web site, and just check the box for it.
