Default Installing subwoofer, line out question

I have a tC. I have a line out converter because I want to keep the stock head unit. I know I can get speaker signal from the back speakers, but it seems easier for me to grab it at the head unit. My question is how do I get a wire to use from the headunit? I have a wiring diagram sortof but I need to know if it is smart to just start ripping away at cords. Is there a seperate wiriring harness I could buy 2 of, as in plug the tC harness into one of the new harnesses and plug the other harness into the tC's cdplayer, and then tie the two ends together. Is there a better way? There doesnt seem to be much slack inside the console for me to take wires, plus I would prefer to have nothing done permenant to my car, even though I dont plan on getting rid of it for a long time.

I was wondering the same thing. I want to put a line out converter without hacking up the harness!

Anyone??

on ebay someone sells a convertor that plugs into the harness! I't crazy, like $60, but sounds like what you're looking for (except you'll throw out the converto you already have.

or you can geta 70-1761 harness and a 71-1761 harness and connect the line out convertors to that so you don't splice any factory wires...

Could you Drop some more info...Why two differnet wiring harnesses? Would it work with just two of each kind. Either solder together the two ends of a 70-1761 or 71-1761

if i were you i would just spice your converter into the speaker harness on the back of the head unit. its not at all necessary to go out and buy 2 more harnesses just so you can someday take it out if you decide to sell your car...aka...nothing permanent. if someday you want to remove the inline converter, you can simply take it out, and splice the two cut wires together and it will be back to original. ahh

Cut wires = voided warranty

Let me know as I want to install an amp and bass tube for my girlfriend's xa on the stock pioneer mp3/cd player. She wants it to be easily removed and she is a small girl and always transporting stuff. Otherwise I'd remove the back seats and do 15 15"s on a stair dolly. That's easily removed right hehe. . LOL

I got mines off of eBay... using it right now, but I am changing out my HU to something better so I won't need it anymore.

I am willing to sell mines if your interested just e-mail me: ranmap@charter.net

I paid like 46.00 after shipping... but I'm selling it for 1/2 that. Send me 20 (Shipped) bucks via paypal and your address and I'll shipping it to you (lower 48 US states only).

It looks like that... same dude I purchased it from.

OK, I've got a question... If I use one of these harnesses to add an amp, what do I connect the amp's turn-on lead to?

OK, I've got two questions. Has anyone used one of these harnesses along with the PIE AUX-TOY3 (or whatever it's called) line-in harness? What I'm wanting to do is hook up my sub amp AND my 2G iPod. I'm trying to put off buying a new headunit until one comes out with good iPod integration.

Thanks!

The harness has a blue wire connection for remote... you run the remote wire from the amp and connect it to that.

I never used the PIE AUX etc. etc... why? Because the OEM HU can already play MP3. If your spending all that money to upgrade or add more feature why not go after market?
