I've picked out a system.. Now what?
Okay, I've settled on getting the Avic-z1 from Pioneer.. I've been browsing online to find the cheapest price and it looks like sonixelectronics is close to being it. However, I don't know what else I need besides the head unit? I am going to get the bluetooth adapter, but do I need any installation kits or wiring harnesses for that unit? I'm going to have a friend install it but I told him I'd get him everything he needs beforehand.
Also, later on I'll be adding xm and xm navtraffic (when they expand to oklahoma city), but I was wondering if he'll have to install any antennas or anything outside the vehicle for the GPS to work correctly? Also, is it out of the question to try to get the aux port, steering wheel controls, or the IPod adapter to work with the Pioneer? I have them already in my stock xB, and would like to retain some of the functionality.
Any suggestions before I make this $1500 commitment to a stereo would be greatly appreciated..

you'll need a wiring harness, and i think with the wiring harness you'll able to retain steering wheel controlls, as far as the IPOD part... i dunno... not sure how that is intergrated into the set up.
GPS antenna doest need to go outside the car... i have the Eclipse deck.. and have it running along the front edge of the windsheild along the dash..

I installed the Z1 in my xA, and here is what you need...
- Wiring Harness for Scions
- Mounting Bracket to fill in sides of headunit
- PAC Pioneer Steering Wheel Control Module
- Ducati Bypass (from www.avic411.com) - This bypasses all the features that are locked out when you are moving.
If you have any more questions, let me know. But check out www.avic411.com. Lots of good info.
