Default JL Audio 10in. W7

I just recently purchased the W7 and I want to hear other people's impression on this sub. Was it worth the purchase? Quality level? Longevity? How good is the bass? Also, I'm wondering if anyone can help with getting the right box (sealed or enclosed) and what kind of amp can i buy that's much cheaper than the JL amp but can match the RMS (500w)

I had a JL 12W7 and loved it. Personally I think it is one of the best subs available.
As far as building the box, go to the JL Audio website and build it to the specs they recommend. I did exactly what they had on their site when I had mine and it sounded great.

Great sub and let NO ONE tell you otherwise. Lots of people just hating on the W7 cuz they can't afford it. I had two tens and they were well worth the money. If you don't know much about box design and bracing then get a dealer to build a box for you, about $125. The baffle is uses two pieces of MDF instead of one.

What kinda budget for an amp?

- Probably around 300-400 range? Any suggestions?

to run the 10w7, a JL Audio 500/1 will work fine. and you can get them new or used on ebay for between $300-$400. I used the 500/1 on my 12W7 and everyone said it was underpowered, but it sounded amazing. IMO a 500/1 is what I would go with.

Definately look at the pdf file. They give you the actual sizes to build the bow and everything.

If you do not want to spend for the 500/1, you could use the 250/1 or the e1400D. Do yourself a favor and not buy JL products off the internet.
If you already saved up for the Porsche, keep her filled with the Premium gas.
Just so you know......there's no such thing as "under-powering" speakers. Any amp JL Audio offers will be compatible with a 10W7 except perhaps a 1000/1. The e1800D would also work, but it's the same price as a 500/1.

Feel free to PM me with any questions you have about JL Audio.

I have a 10w7 in my Xb. It is in a 1 cubic foot box and powered by a JL 500/1. I can honestly say this is the best sounding single subwoofer I have ever heard. I have owned many, many subwoofers and amplifiers and this setup has truly impressed me. You will love it.

Please dont use any other amp than a 500/1 or a 250/1
I would use the single ported box that comes in the owners manual.
I have used this box many times and it will rock you PERIOD. The 500/1
on this will really do the job and you will be very glad you did.

any where you guys think i can get a hook up on the 500/1? I've pretty much looked at different amps that can power my sub but as far as i know the 500/1 is the best amp to compliment my sick ___ sub.

i had a w7 hooked to my memphis bell amp and it "pushed out" the back window to my old jeep, not broke or cracked, pushed, as a whole piece of glass. it was an old crappy jeep but the sub sounded incredible, i still have it and plan on putting that system in my tc

Damn, all this talk about the W7 and the 500/1 being the best combo. I won't be getting the sub working in my car for awhile because of my accident. I recently got into an accident about 2 weeks ago. I got T-BONED. The car's at the shop getting fixed and it'll take about 4 weeks before i get that thing back. My back started to hurt right after that accident so i've been going to the chiropractor since then.
