Default Kenwood KSC-SW1 or Infinity Basslink?

Ok after having the factory speakers replaced, adding an amp and the cleansweep, i'm thinking i need a sub.

I'm debating whether or not I need Dynamat as well.

Anyways, I'm looking for a decent/efficient sub that will fit in the back. The amp/cleansweep are in the storage area so something that will fit nicely in the rear deck area.

Looking at either the Kenwood KSC-SW1 or the Infinity Basslink...

I've read both good and bad about them, but wanted to see if you guys had any first hand thoughts, suggestions or recommendations...

I figure I've sent more than $1000 on the setup so far, might as well finish it off...

I commend you on your Clean Sweep Purchase. As long as the set up has been calibrated properly this will yield amazing sound quality results.
If you get a good look at the sheet metal of your doors, you will se that if it were any thinner, you could see through it! DYNAMAT! The doors, the fire wall, the floor, the trunk floor, the trunk lid, the ceiling, the whole damn thing. Don't use any other brand; Dynamat Extreme is by far thee best product out there.
Now, I have strong opinions on your choice of subs. These two are really made for quick and easy sales. Not necessarily sound quality. If you are attracted to the all in one solution, then take a look at the Focal Solution 25A1. Focal is an awesome speaker manufacturer, so you know this will have a great sound. I am assuming you want to keep it under a certain price point. If this is not the case, then look at the Focal (www.focal-fr.com) BombA 27 V1.
I have seen both of your choices in action and like Evil Knievel, they came up short. The Focal product is HOT! If you want to go with a separate amp/woofer set up, then I have strong opinions there as well. Can you say JL AUDIO?!

Once again, thanks for the tips. I think I am going to head back to the shop tomorrow as they have to fix whatever is causing the DVD player not to display the video image and I'm going to have them Dynamat the doors. I will also ask them about a sub and see what they recommend and update once they make their suggestion. I'll also mention the items you listed and see what they give me on a price for that and go from there. I think I'd be willing to shell out another $500 or so tops for the sub/insulation so I guess that's my budget on completing the system.

The CleanSweep and the replacement speakers with the JL amp really have improved the quality and the system gets much louder now. I just need to round it out with good bass which I hope will take some of the pressure off the current speakers so they can become even better sounding without having to make all the bass w/o a sub.

In addition, I have a JL Stealthbox in my car, so I know how awesome the JL products are. If they made a stealtbox for the Scion I'd buy it. not cheap but well worth it from what I've heard from mine.

I'll keep you posted tomorrow after I go to the shop and see what they say.

I have talked to Don Vertrees, the manager of Stealth Box production, and asked him why there is no Stealth Box solution for Scion. He said they have simply overlooked it. Keep an eye open to see what they unviel at the CES show in January!

Ya, if I only I were that patient to not get something before then...hahaha.

Tell him if they wanna send out a few "test" runs of their product I'd be a happy subject hahaha.

The one in my C6 is freaking amazing! After getting it installed is actually what caused my wife to realize how crappy her factory system sounded and why I went ahead and have done what I've done with her car to this point.

JL rocks!

The general public has no idea how much R&D goes into the production of a Stealth Box. Dollars to Doughnuts, you WILL NOT get a better sounding pre made vehicle specific enclosure. I use one in my Suburban, it rocks. Good luck.

Ok went to the shop today and they fixed the other issue witht he DVD playback and talked me out of these two subs.

They did have a JL 10W1v2 in a box for $109 that they hooked up just so I could hear it. What a difference! It sounded good and took the load off the other speakers so they sounded even better in conjunction with the sub.

They were selling the JL sub with the box for $109. They suggested the JL 250/1 amp, but that **** runs about $399 or something like that, and since the JL sub is rated at 150W isn't that a bit overkill?

CleanSweep® CL441dsp Technologies
Reviews

The cure for factory sound no longer requires major surgery.
CleanSweep® CL441dsp: Technologies

Aftermarket sound with a factory head unit? You bet...
As automakers continue to abandon the stand-alone, standard-sized head-unit in favor of integrated designs, JL Audio’s product development team felt that a need existed for a high-quality integration solution. This product would need to deliver world-class audio results while not interfering with vehicle functionality, safety or reliability.

To this end, we embarked on a two-year project to develop CleanSweep® CL441dsp — a patent-pending, DSP-based solution that permits almost any factory-installed audio system to serve as the source for a high-performance aftermarket sound system while also providing input for an additional source of your choice.

this thing has the amp built in correct? 150w RMS - 300w MAX right?

Hmmm....I'd be at $109, plus the JL 250/1 amp runs about $300 online or $399 from the shop...putting that at around the same price as what you mention in the Focal...

Would you say that would be a better option to go with the Focal you suggest for $499 plus shipping...I assume that box fits nicely in the back of the xb...

I just might take you up on that...would that be $499 plus shipping...no tax?

Also, is spending $500 on that one THAT much better than spending half that on the Basslink?

Probably easier to keep it all in one spot...

The main thing here is you run the risk of an improperly designed and built enclosure. I can almost guarantee that this woofer will not sound as well in you Scion compared to the Stealth Box. I have been in car audio for 18 years and I have seen this time and time again. The Focal box is tuned to the woofer in is a great sounding sub to boot. I am the world biggest JL Audio fan, but for your particular application, I would go with the focal. As far as the others compared, if you buy a woofer box made out of plastic, then move along....

Thanks for the input...I'll probably take you up on your advice and buy the Focal off you and then simply have my shop install it. Since the Focal comes with the amp and so forth, it should be pretty easy once I'd get it.

I'll definitely let you know when I'm ready to move forward and thanks so much for the input!
