Default left dash light keeps going out

For the past month whenever I start my 06 xb, the left dash light doesnt go on over the hvac and I have to give it a light slap and it just goes back on. It's been crazy cold and havn't had any time to pop the dash off to take a look, but anyone have an idea why this is happening? Maybe something just need to be tightened ?

Ok, bizarre - I've been having exactly the same problem on my '05 BSP. Same story (hit the dash and it comes back on). It's even the same light.

Any suggestions? I have no problem opening the dash up for a look, but I have no idea what to look for...

Bianco, did you ever get yours taken care of?

I've got the same problem...it just started last week.....I took the bulb out and reseated it...this didn't help.
I'm going to swap the bulbs tomorrow and see if the problem follows the bulb..maybe the filament is loose and smacking it reconnects it....not likely....I thought sure the bulb was just loose/connections loose in the socket...

Didn't have much time to mess with the dash today..

did quickly swap the bulbs, and after the swap neither worked. swapped back and they worked...wondering if they are really leds and I put them in backwards....looks like I'm no help. As long as the slap on the dash works I don't care...much.

Idk if this is common knowledge, but if you are going to take the trim piece off of the center to get to the radio, bulbs,or whatever, there are screws holding it to the dash underneath both the temp and vent selector *****.

Hey, guys...

OK, so, found this thread: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11283

It's about changing the colors of those two LEDs, and has some fairly decent pic-a-chures of the whole process. I thought it might help.

My brother and I are going to crack open the dash this weekened (he's an electrical engineer) and take a look at it... Eventually, I want to switch out the amber for white.

I'll let you guys know how it goes.

FIXED :D

What I did: Replaced dash lights according to this thread. https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11283 I'm sorry there's no good consolidation; you will have to read the entire thread.

I went with the Oznium method, and bought two white lights (if you go on Oznium.com, search for "C5 CORVETTE" and buy the LEDs...it's in the thread). It's a little light toward the edges, but it's immeasurably preferable to half the dash being out.

I was afraid it was a loose wire, but in retrospect, the problem is probably just a bulb that was not put in all the way. I guess they made all three of our cars on the same Friday.

What would probably also work: Tightening the bulbs. If you have a Phillips-head screwdriver you can probably do it. It's the kind where you just rotate it 1/4 turn and it snaps into place.

Good luck! Let me know how it turns out!
