Looking for Car PC ideas....
So has anyone installed a Car PC in their XB? I am looking to start one soon, but on a budget. I have a Thinkpad R32, but that is about it. I need some ideas on screens, and also if anyone has installed a USB port/cable in the little switch panels below the oven. Any help would be appreciated! I will post pics along my journey of building/installing car pc if anyone is interested!
I've done quite a few variations of carPCs. Currently, I am running a full custom unit with a Liliput touchscreen in the dash. Here's a pic of the dash center with the shell running.

Typically, you are looking at a few key pieces to a carPC.
CPU/Memory/Mobo/HDD
Power Supply (with or without Startup/Shutdown control)
User interface (keyboard, mouse, touchscreen, etc.)
Extensions (audio in/out, video in/out, OBDII, relay control, etc.)
If you have any questions related to carPCs, let me know. I'll help any way I can.

I appreciate your tips.... Did you replace the entire head unit and put in a amp, or did you relocate the head unit? See I cant really afford to buy a amp so I need to find how to relocate the stock radio.
My carPC completely replaces the HU. I am running multiple amplifiers off the carPC.
Unfortunately, unless you can find a HU with good quality inputs, you are not going to be able to pass audio from the carPC to the HU for use as an amplifier unless you intend on gutting and modifying the HU. Your cleanest, easiest, and safest bet is going to be an amplifier. There are decent amplifiers out there that don't cost an arm and a leg. Save up your pennies and start watching eBay.
