The cig lighter is a good place but when you turn the key off you lose power. If you want your lights to be on when you don't have your keys in the car, you definitely need another power source. I recommend getting a piggyback fuse and get power straight from the fuse box. That way you can pick when you want power available, you aren't splicing into other wires, and your lights will be protected by their own fuse.

I just got back from Autozone and think I got all I needed to do this over the weekend. Kinda nervous though this is the first mod I will do to my car and I don't want to screw it up. I'm sure using the tech article I will be fine though. I got the add-a-circuit from autozone to use for my power source. Probably Friday I will be attempting this.

I installed 6 LEDs in each oh ____ handle after boring out the center plastic rib with a dye grinder. I tapped into the dome light s power after removing the headliner, what I like about that approach is all the characteristics of the dome light are givin to the LEDs, when doors are open, keyless entry, and auto fade, ect.
