Default Lots of interior peices removed for paint.. 'cept THESE!!

Ok.. searched to no avail.

I'm painting a lot of interior pieces and I spent an hour and a half last night pulling pieces out, but ran into a roadblock when I got to my steering wheel.

The 2 silver accent pieces need to come off to get painted, but I can't see an easy way to remove them without taking the entire wheel off. Is there an easy way or do I have to undo the two torx head bolts on the backside of the steering wheel and remove the whole assembly?

Thanks in advance guys!

Bingo! Then you just have to disconnect the air bag wires. I'd disconnect the negative battery terminal first if I were you.

Ahhh crap. Oh well, I was hoping I wouldn't have to take the whole damn thing off.

Thanks for the response bro!

what kind of paint are you using?
Let me know about the airbag on the steering wheel trim removal. I'm scared to death of it busting me in the face when I'm not looking. Also the '06 have some stereo controls mounted on the wheel, but hopefully it's just another quick-connect.

Could you write in more detail how you're going about it?
Thanks -

You have to take the whole cover off. The silver pieces are plastic welded to the main body and do not come off easily, and once they do, they will not snap back in like all the other pieces in the xB.
