Default Maximum mounting depth?

Does anyone know what the maximum bottom mounting depth is for the front door speakers? Checked Crutchfield to see what fits, but the selection of speakers that fits are SUCKS. I dont know if Crutchfields measurments are with or without the mounting brackets which should add a little more room back there...

I've seen a tC with 6.5" Alpine Type-S components all around. Crutchfield won't include the brackets for the install but you can make 'em easily out of 3/4" MDF.

you could probably fit whatever you want with spacers as long as they don't hit the door panel itself....

the only problem with mounting the front door speakers in that the damn window rolls down and gets in the way, but you could go with a pretty deep speaker and it wont be a problem, just cut out some MDF and use that as a spacer, thats what me and my dad did, worked out perfect and looks very professional

From what I've heard, it's not too different for an xB...and I've got over 4" in there.

I just installed door speakers in my xb yesterday. I used the Scosche adapter from Crutchfield and the speaker wire adapther as well. Made a super easy job!! I used Pioneer two way speakers and there is no problem. I would imagine that with the adapter you could put just about any 6.5" speaker in there within reason.

Which Pioneers did you get?

I have the same brackets you're talking about from Crutchfield but my Infinity 6002i (6.5 2-way) did not fit. I had to reverse the bracket and dril my own hole to make it fit. I don't that was the best way to mount the speakers.

I used the Pioneer 2 way speakers. On sale at Best Buy a few days ago for 40.00.
I'm surprised the Infinitys did not fit without mods. Did the bolt holes on the speakers not match up with the grooves in the Scosche adapter?

The speaker was too big for the brakets and too small for the factory cut hole.
