Default MDF Baffles Brackets Spacers Frames - WHAT GIVES??

Hello. Maybe some of you have the same questions as I do...here's the problem.

I'm still trying to mount my Infiniti Kappa speakers in my 2006 xA, but having no luck as they don't fit properly. A 'baffle', bracket', 'spacer', or 'frame' needs to be made for them, preferably of MDF (medium density fiberboard.)

What, if anything, is the difference between a baffle, bracket, spacer, and/or frame? Are these essentially the same thing?

My other problem is that, alrhough I'd be perfectly happy to chop up the 3/4" MDF board I have sitting in my house, the stuff seems pretty resistant to my attempts. I mean, it's REALLY hard to cut! What am I supposed to use to cut it? The little hand jigsaw I'm using pretty mujch laughs at me when I try...and I bought a cheapy-type handheld rechargable jigsaw that also does essentially nothing...

Tips?

I'm dying here. The saga of my audio problem has gone on WAY too long. (Just ask Scion tC Guy.)

they need to look like this. these are cut on a router and are two pieces glued together. very strong and will set you back $50.

you don't even need the 2nd piece... single 3/4" will do just fine w/o mounting issues... with the 2 piece as pictured, you could fit speakers up to almost 4" mount depth in there... but that's not necessary...

Well, those allow you to mount back to the factory spots and the it brings the speaker back to the door panel so it's not sunk in the door. Hey, it's how we do it at my store and you get nothing less than that.

don't get me wrong, those are fabulous... but the spacer isn't necessary... and $50??? that's a little steep, I'll just make my own that'll do the same job...

Thanks for all the replies. Those baffles look nice, but I'm not sure what you mean by '2 pieces glued together.' For 50 bucks, what exactly does the consumer get? I need 2 fronts, two backs, and 2 tweets. What's that cost?

As far as asthetics go, I really don't care, considering no one will see them.

Scion-Tc, thanks for the help, as always. Do you have a link to the back brackets or tweeter mounts?

Also, I got a new jigsaw blade. I'll let you know how it goes.

Too expensive? cheap mounts are plastic and cheap. they can crack and they resonate. Now I am not going to create an arguement about who should do what. go cheap and you get cheap. they are 15 to 25 dollars. for a little more, you may get better sound, less resonation etc. it's your guys call on how you want to make your car sound. I except nothing but the best of my abilities and resources.

Fine, fine. But my question remains...what do I get for $50 bucks? What's in the package?

2 rings only? Plus tweeter mounts? 4 rings? Or exactly in the pic? Thanks for the clarification.

The spacers that are in my car are made from 13ply birch and would be alot more than 50$
The labor building these was way more than that not including material

About the mounts, $50 is the ring. that means a piar of mounts. The tweeter mount was an experiment. It worked out nice though. Sooooo, you can say this or you can say this or you can do this I don't care. I have obesrved a lot of cheapness here. Say what you want and do what you want. Don't let me catch you complaining about what you did and it doesn't work right or rattles or whatever.

Like I said before, I piped up cuz someone asked and I gave the details and advantages. There is no reason to start flaming me on this topic. This is what I do for a living and I am passionate about it.

at the minimum a shop will charge you 25 to make spacers... the ones like jdmjim made have a few more steps, then a piece of 3/4 that is just simply cut to shape...

some people are just more particular about their setup then others...

you are paying for craftmanship with his baffles...

all I'm saying is ANYONE with a jigsaw or router/jasper jig can make these for about $10 from MDF... you'll not get any vibration/unwanted frequency resonance as long as they're mounted securely.... eD's baffles are $20/pair and I'll guarantee they will be as solid as any other mount.... topic dropped, I'm done..
