Default Mounting Interior Neon Lighting?

I searched the forums, and I have found plenty of sources on how to wire cathode neon lights, but im just curious if anyone is mounting them in any particular way for in the driver and passenger side up front. I havent really looked under that area, but I assume there is somewhere to zip tie or something. Also, I here people talking about the add a circuit things for the fuse box. Where do I buy these things, how do I use them, and how much do they cost.

Take Detail to keep them out of sight , CCFL's glow bright Real bright!

Also Velcro works wonders in places where you have no Zip ties, get a commercial velcro. Large hooks. Not the thin stuff. This will keep the lights in place under any driving circumstances.

if your looking for a great place to pickup CCFL's www.svc.com any color 3- 7 bux per pair.

These are made for computer cases but they run off the same 12 V as yoru car.

There was an 3+ page long thread a while ago called "mounting cold cathode tubes." I'd look for that.

And I guarantee SVC won't tell you how to install them in your scion, or take pictures for you...

There is no exact location to mount the front lights, so you’ll have to do a little exploration as each individual has their preferences.

Driver side:

Left side mounting is on the metal brackets. It has several holes drilled in it, so pick one to your liking and slide the ziptie through.

The right side (beside the center console) mounting in this case is the blue cable. Just wrap a ziptie around it and the light, cinch it down, and you’re done. The cable doesn’t move or change locations at all, so it’s a good mounting point.

Passenger Side:

Left side (nearest the center console):
This is mounted to the pre-existing bracket/mounting point for the factory-option lights that are a mass rip-off. As with the driver side-left mounting, use the pre-drilled hole on this bracket to run the ziptie and secure the light.

Right side:
This is a bit more complicated. There is a large, white, plastic thing with a thick support column. This column is what we’ll use to mount the right side of the front passenger light. Run the ziptie around the column and light, cinch down, and voila!

Anyone looking for cathodes should buy from Oznium :D

Or, you could just buy my kit. its plug and play. Detailed instructions are included. Since I was the first one to put cathodes in a Scion.

I got the add a circuit things for wiring the neons, but I got a few questions. First question is, how can I find out which fuse in the fuse box does what. According to the manual, these add a circuits are only supposed to be used with 10 amp fuses. Also, what fuse do u think I would need for the cold cathodes? 3, 7.5, or 10 amp. If someone can provide like info on what each fuse does in the fuse box, I would be so greatful

You don't. Both of the replies above are from sponsors not people plugging sponsors. They are just trying to be helpful and make sales at the same time. They are paying for that privelege. Although I'm sure neither would reject any plugs you did feel like giving.

Look on the top of the fuse box cover you pulled out to see the fuse box. The layout is right there. There are actually several empty fuse locations that aren't used. Just decide whether you want to run your cathodes on switched power or non-switched power and find the spot that has what you want.

can u explain to me what switched power and non switched power is? If possible, since im going to have a switch installed, I want to be able to turn on the neons even if the key isnt in the ignitiion. Im not sure if this is possibly. If not, I would like to be able to use the neons if the key is on accessory.

Then you want non-switched power.

The "Switch" is the key.
Switched power = Key in ignition to accessory or possibly on
Non-switched power = Key not in ignition of or in off position

The easiest way to do it is connect your lights, turn on the switch you install with the ignition off, and plug the piggyback into the open slots until the lights come on.

chadfo, i think i understand but I just want to make sure. Your saying to run all the wires and stuff, mount the neons, then put the add a circuit into an open fuse and try to turn on the neons without the key in. Try every oppen fuse slot until the neons turn on.

First off... i don't understand what you mean by "add a fuse thingy." if what you're talking about is similar to just wrapping the positive wires around the terminals of a fuse and then shoving it into the holder, then you are definitely making a big mistake. Sure it may be easy, but sometimes the easy route isn't always the best/safest. My suggestion... Run a fused power wire directly from your battery to a switch located in your car, mount the cathode tubes (out of sight), and wire the cathode's power wire to the switch. Run the cathode's ground wire all the way to the battery or attach it to the body somehow, and you're done. This way you can turn them on and off at your own will (not whether the key is in the ignition). Also you wouldn't be messing with the stock wiring at all, so if there is a problem, it is less likely to ____ up something that is necessary for the car to be functional. I know this method is much more complicated and time consuming, however it is the right way to do it (in my opinion)... if you have any questions about this, just feel free to ask. I'd be glad to help...

first off for interior neons, I see no point what so ever to run a power wire to the battery. The add a circuit things basically plug into the fuse box and have a wire coming out, in which you just crimp to power wire from the neons. This is a much better connection, then just wrapping bare wire around a fuse and shoving it in. The add a circuit also provides fused protection

Where does everyone suggest to ground the cathodes to? Also, do i need the add-a-circuit for mini fuses or the normal one? Do i need to buy 2 add-a-circuits or just one if i'm going to wire cathodes for the front and back? Would i still use a 3 amp fuse for both the front and back in one add-a-circuit?

Oznium - do you sell the add-a-circuits, i'm getting the cathodes from you, and would like to get everything done in one easy order.

it depends a lot on how many lights you are going to install. sure that may be fine for just 2 cathodes now, but if you expand later on down the road to a u/b kit, strobes, or other various accent lighting devices, then this "add-a-fuse" thingy won't be sufficient. i'm talking mostly from experience here as well. when i first started installing neons, LEDs, and such i did some pretty risky stuff that i've learned from now. if you haven't seen pics of my last car, then you wouldn't understand just how important a decent wiring job is...
