Default mounting kit...

i have gone thru 6 in the past year and a half...r there different companies that make them for the xb? i think everyone i had were metra. anybody fab anything using the stock radio brackets? im tired of these crappy mounting kit tabs breaking on me.

i driiled stock metal bracket onto the plastick and it lookit s great and hasent broken yet

I am using a scosche and it has not broken yet. What am I doing wrong?Oh and the 3 CD pocket hasn't failed either any ideas?

just a tip for those who are using pretty heavy radios, like flip outs and such: using a back strap attached to the back of your radio attach the other side of the back strap to the screw that is directly above the radio opening in the dash. this will support the back end of the radio and relieve some stress on the mounting feet of the kits and make the radio more secure in the dash also.
I had to do that with the JVC flip out I had. that radio was really heavy and the kit didn't like the heavier then normal radio.
