JBL W10GTI = $250-500 depending on where you get it
JBL BPX1100.1 = $500-800 depending on where you get it
it's a pretty heafty system and to answer another's question "how does it sound?", JBL's GTI subs have been concidered one of the best sounding subwoofers around. all GTI subs are designed for SPL comps but the W10GTI isn't the greatest for that but supplies GREAT sound and probably the best you can find, theres another brand i do believe that others will name that normaly takes the best sounding award but to what i've heard the GTI subs have beatin even this other name.
Question for you, YELOSUB, the BPX1100.1, without the silver pieces, is there any apparent alternative tie down holes? or would your fellow DIY person have to make his own through the framing of the heatsink?

The man knows his stuff.
The silver pieces are the mounts for the amp. It looks cool with them off, but you would have to figure out another way to mount it.
I have to admit I am nervous now! Doing my own custom system and trying to do something knew this gives me alot of competition. Gave me some ideas and I give all of you hats off. However how CAN you go wrong with that group of guys?!
