Default my tC sub box installed in spare tire area

So, basically done with my sub box and amp install in the spare tire area of my tC. Obviously, I have removed the spare tire, but haven't affected the space or size of the trunk area (which I use daily). Still planning on carpetting and/or painting the box and adding a speaker grill. Plus, thinking I will spin the amplifier and clean up the wiring a little.

Can I ask why you put the terminal cup on the same side as the driver? Aesthetically speaking of course, as that's really the only thing it effects.

I put the whole box in the trunk and tried varoius locations and found that the front was the easiest to wire. So, no patricular reasons, just seemed the easiest.

Just wondering. I haven't gotten my tC from the dealer yet, but when I do, I plan on doing a false floor and try to keep it under the carpet (which is what it appears you've done)(haven't done a false floor in a customer's tC yet so it's going to be experimetal on my part). Just wondering if I was gonna have to do one that was less stealth to keep the terminal cup off the top, not that that matters, but I like all my wires and stuff to be hidden.

I tend to agree with you about that, but when it came down to it, the top provided the easiest solution and I figured that I wouldn't be in there often.

Not sure if you looked at the website, but here are a couple of things I have been considering since I finished the sub project.

Things I might have done differently....

1. Quite possibly gone with a 10" sub. This 12" is fairly shallow in the overall scheme of things, but it was still difficult to fit into the location I chose.
2. I would have strongly considered using the entire spare tire location for the sub box and mounting the amplifier in the right-hand side storage area as I don't use that for anything anyway. I think may have made the overall install easier and cleaner.

If you don't need the storage bins under the false bottom on the right and/or on the left, you are going to have a large (altho pretty THIN) area to work with. You can definitely have multiple drivers/multi amps, etc. Just watch ur depth.

GL when the time comes,

Default Cool

Cool, I like how you did the whole car and showed us pictures of everything.

I'm no expert but just thought why was pixie glass used in the rear and MDF in the front?

Thx guys.

S, the spare tire is sitting in my garage. I just made sure my AAA account was good to go, and I am willing to risk a flat tire... knock on wood.

R, I only went with Plexiglass because my brother had some sitting around and we had never tried it before. It was fairly thin and easy to work with BUT it was somewhat difficult to cut. Mainly because as you cut, if you don't move slowly, the heat from the saw blade would cause the pieces to 'stick' back together. A little aggravating. So when we did the fronts, we went with MDF since it was easier to shape and I knew the fronts were going to be harder to get just right versus the rears which have a large open area.
