Default Navigation System Owners

Can you guys tell me what is the best aftermarket navigation system in your opinion? I am looking at a few pioneers for the future but I am not too sure what would be good to go with any suggestions?

i would go with the eclipse avn units..
they fit under the stereo door and can be bypassed easily.
they also have 2 disc slots.. 1 for navigation and 1 for mp3s.. or the 5495 has internal hd for navi and mp3.. and an slot for more mp3..

avic-n1/n2 can't fit under stereo door and the avic-d1 doesnt have built in dvd player.

Honestly, I'd go with the AVIC D1 cuz seriously, if i want to watch a movie, im not gonna go to my car. An extra $500 is IMO not worth the extra perk. ANd from what I have seen the AVIC D1 has a better GPS interface. But thats just my opinion

i'm not going to be watching a movie while driving either but since its built in, it would be nice. If you have friends, you probably can get it at a discount which will come out around the same price.

another thing to note is that ever since i got my n1, i haven't use the dvd function yet.. just test it out once. so D1 would work and you can get an external dvd player like others or a ps2/xbox to hook it up for games and can also play dvd movies.

After comparing prices and running mock set ups on paper I'd still go with the D1, but that's just me.. I've had the D1 in my car since the day I bought the tC.. all I can say is that I've never been led to the wrong address nor have I had a problem with the bypass or watching DVDs (from a ps2). For the price of the 5435, you can have a D1 with a ps2 and I-pod connection. for the price of a 5495 throw in a 12-disc changer and install. Both are, however quality units, I wont sit here and bicker back and forth about which is better because they each have their pros and cons, and it is debateable the importance of each issue. Either way you're looking at spending $1000+ but it is really what you want out of the money. I wouldn't suggest anything other then the eclipse units or the D1 because I'm still shifty about the motors on the flipout screens.

All these are DVD based, correct?
Mine is satellite based'Garmin', meaning never having to load a dvd-rom, and having the most up to date info such as road construction, gas, food, hotels, etc. We were going to get a DVD-ROM based indash unit, but this was a much better product, cheaper, more up to date info, and we can put it in another car if need be.

I have the magelion roadmate 700 and I love it. I don't use it everyday since I know where I am going, but when I go somewhere new I can use it in any car. Plus when I travel I take it with me on the plane and use it in the rental.

I'm pretty sure that the D1 pulls the construction information, I know it does with NavTraffic, but I didn't test it out before I had Navtraffic. it does the same with gas, food, and lodgings.. and it offers more.. however these are only updateable with DVD upgrades..

I haven't really used hand held units, or dash mount in your case. I do know that the GPS is as accurate as the D1 if not more so, and most units are much cheaper then the D1.
