Default Need Help From System Experts!!!

ok im having the worst time with my system lately and I am really getting sick of f-in with it. First I'll tell you what I have:

Pioneer D3
2 Infinity 10.1 perfect kappa
Infinity 611a mono block amp. Specks on Amp
http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/S...id/0/SFV/30046

So for about 2 months everything was working great. Nice clean bass that was perfect. Then one of my subs stopped working and for some reason the amp would always go on protect with the one 10 bridged. Which I dont understand cuz with both the subs bridged it never went on protect.

So I bought the same sub agian figuring that would fix the problem but it didnt. Now it goes on and off protect every few minutes even with the bass turned down. Theres no way it would work for 2 seconds hitting the way it used to. This is just driving me crazy and I wuold really like some advice.

Do I need a new amp is this one just shot? Someone please let me know. Thank you

could have a broken remote wire or rca cable, or they could be loose on the back of the stereo, what you could do is take it to a stereo shop and have them test the amp

1 bad wire can

but its usually the rca or remote wire that causes it, if the ground were bad it wouldn't light up, same for the positive

if ti was an RCA then it would be a simple signal cut out and the amp wouldn't go into protect it would ust see a signal input being plugged and unplugged rather quickly.

what you have is an amplifier problem. if you don't know, Infinite is actualy Sony, it's Sony's Luxary lines but share the same tech. from the experience i've had with sony is that thier modules tend to just start having problems and it's not only thier car audio equipment, my house hold stereo has the same prolem every now and then.

i havn't looked into it much, but from the way it's acting it sounds like a bad module or in other words, unstable. could also be an internal grounding problem where a hot wire has metled some of it's covering and crossed on something.

but as for loose RCA's or cracked RCS cables... no. BUT could be on the headunit it's self. one of the RCA outputs may have a grounding problem it's self which will cause a clipped signal to reach the amplifier causing it to go into protect.

Easy fix. Pull the amp and have it bench tested. That will eliminate one part of the equation. It'd be alot easier than loosing your sanity chasing wires and ideas of what ails your system.

If you already had an issue with one of the subs, you might have a problem with the other one also. My first step would be to disconnect the subs and leave no load on the amp and see if the protect comes on. If not, hook up a test speaker to it and check what happens. If you hook up a known good speaker and you still have a problem, then have the amp checked. If everything works with the test speaker, then your other sub might have a bad voicecoil, short, etc.
I don't know of any amps that go into protect from a loss of signal, like a bad RCA, or loose RCA. Protect usually happens from a bad load on the amp, incorrectly adjusted gains, or power issues.
