Default Need some help - I messed something up!

Hey all,

I was fiddling with my LED lights that i took out a while ago. I wanted to put them in the cupholders now that i found my hot glue gun. (the ghetto rigged eletrical tape didnt hold them, thats why i took them out)

anyway..in the past i had connected them to the power supply for the shifter (? its a little blue box with 4 wires connected). THis is the same supply for your Speedometer light, dash lights. I checked the fuses and i dont believe any of them were blown. didnt appear that way anyway.

Somehow i messed it up and there is no speedometer light. realized this last nite when i was driving home on the interstate. i had to use my iPods back light to check my speed. pita.

I didnt mess with anything really. I put the soldered ends (2) of the leds into the openings for the other 4 wires. Just like i had done last time (no problems last time).

any ideas what i did?

no camera = no pics

thanks in advance.

This might sound really stupid, but I have seen it done. Did you check to make sure the Illumination switch was turned up? Then, do your A/C controls light up? They are on that circuit.

yeah, that was the first thing i checked.

the air conditioning works but the lights behind the console do not.

I didnt pull any wires out of anywhere - i only tried to sneak the LED wires into the same ports...worked last time no problem.

very dark ride home last nite.

thanks for tryin!

anybody else?

Welp, time to find the blown illumination fuse. Recheck all of them, get a multimeter and make sure they have conductivity. Visual inspection doesn't always do it.

K.

thanks..i dont have the tools, but i know some folks who do.

I checked the fuses last nite and none looked blown - but like you said..looks can be deceiving.

I was worried that i accidentally disconnected something. but the wires seem to be snug still.

That blue housing with the 4 wires going in it is in an incredibly tight little place.

I have a manual, so I don't know about shifter lights, but I do know that when I was putting LEDs in my A/C controls, I did blow a fuse.

That would be the 10A TAIL fuse.Looking at under dash fuse block it is top row far right.BTW your running lights aren't working either.

I had the same problem, cup holder LEDs were shorting out the speedo/tail light fuse, for me, it turned out to be a simple short in my wiring...re-check all the wires you used for your cupholders, I bet there is a pinched wire....

Good luck!
