Default New 2006 Aux Input Engine Noise

I don't know if anyone else is having the same problem, but any audio device that requires a 12v adapter that plugs into the cigarette lighter will cause engine noise through the Aux input.

Iconfirmed this with a both a portable DVD player and a potable Sirius Starmate satellite receiver. It does not happen with the portable DVD player when running off the battery.

I tried grounding the cigarette lighter to the back of the stereo, but it did absolutely nothing!

Anyone have similar problems? Any electrical geniuses out there?

What kind of input cable are you using? I see you have checked the grounding, however your input line to the aux input may not be of sufficient quality. If that isn't the problem, then the circuit design between the aux input, 12V source, and stereo system doesn't have a good ground.

I have used a standard line mini 1/8" jack input cable from the audio units out to the aux input. Really don't see that a monster cable is in order, but I could try...

i wouldnt say to purchase a monster cable. I am just eliminating the possibility of a defective input cable.

I read something else about this earlier, they said it has something to do with the electricity running through the system. When you are using a 3rd party source like batteries, you dont experience the same problems.

I had the the same problem, mostly with my XM reciever. My ipod did not have the noise when plugged into the aux plug. I bought a ground loop isolator from radio shack and the noise is gone.

Hope this helps for you.
