Don't Worry about any damage I saw the way they make the mold for my AC Controls, it is very easy and could not damage anything!

 

Max, You can take a paper clip and push the transparent filter out of the hole so you will not have to tape it up and if you heat the paint cans correctly they will spray fine enough that you can spray light coats and it will not run

 

I always use cans that are at room temp or better, and am somewhat capable with a spray can, but in addition to the possible screwup, I think I would like something temporary as I know there will be a glare, I'm just not sure how much it will bug me. It's the ring around the outside of the speedo that would need masking for me as I don't want to paint the whole thing, just the ring.
