Default New stereo / DVD recommendations

I'm quite disappointed with the iPod upgrade stereo that I got with my new xB. I'm looking to upgrade; I still want to have connectivity with my iPod, but while I'm at it I'd like to add a DVD screen in-dash.

Any recommendations for a reliable, understated looking, relatively inexpensive unit? Thanks!

Jensen makes a new double din touchscreen, DVD player head unit that comes with the iPod cable, and you can even play all your vids, music etc onscreen with an iPod emulated interface. Also, the unit is GPS nav ready ($500 kit), XM ready, and pretty much will do ANYTHING as far as DVD headunits go, and at about $600, its a steal. You can check it out here: http://www.savinglots.com/lotprod.asp?item=VM9021TS

If you want to go high end, go with the Eclipse AVN6600. It had DVD, nav, and you can have iPod connectivity.

That looks like a great deal, thanks. I've heard that Jensen may not be the most reliable, is that true? Either way, this is so much cheaper than other comparable units that it would probably be worth it.

As a side note, is it possible to have the steering wheel mounted volume control work with an aftermarket unit, or only for stock? Thanks a lot!

Check out the JVC AVX2, only a 3.5" screen but it plays just about every format including DVD's and it has true Dolby digital 5.1 playback. If you're not concered about Nav take a look at this HU. I'm using it and I love it!!!

That looks great, but I'm looking for something with integrated iPod support. I am leaning towards the Jensen model.

if I were doing that Id go with the double din Alpine unit with the high speed iPod control and the Alpine Blackbird portable nav with the optional cradle. The cradle makes the portable nav run through the HU and use all the touchscreen stuff on the HU and still allows you to take the nav on walks using the gps or built in MP3 and use it in other cars
