I swear I did a Search but didn't find a definitive answer. I just bought an 06 xB. There's an Aux Input by the e-brake but the Head Unit doesn't have an Aux mode.

Was this how the stereo was configured on the base trim level 06 xB? Why would they put an Aux Input but no way to play it through the stereo?

I have an 06 and my radio doesn't look anything like this radio. I belive this radio is from an 04 or 05

 

That looks like an 05 unit...
My 06 looks different and has an AUX button..

 

I just spoke with a Manager at the dealership and he said the 06 xB came with either or. You had to buy a trim level with the upgraded stereo to use the Aux Input.

I complained to him saying I felt i was sold a feature that wasn't there so he's checking on getting me a Head Unit with the Aux Mode.

 

That's a flat out lie. There are a group of very early 06 (I'd call them 05.5) that had not finalized the ipod upgrade just yet. In that process, the stealerships were advised to utilize any old stock 05 stereos.
Some of these came with the 05 stereos, some of them came with the 06 stereo without the iPod interface. You did not have to purchase an upgrade on the trim level to get the 06 default stereo.

Also, some of the early 06 came with the steering wheel buttons which control the stereo, some did not.

Good to hear they are going to swap it out though. If they wouldn't, I was going to offer up a trade if you wanted to pay shipping.

If they have the aux input by the ebrake, it should ABSOLUTELY have the proper head unit. Looks like they just crammed whatever was laying around in there... does your car have steering wheel controls and all that?

sometimes what a dealer will do is:
when a used car comes in with with no HU they will put a stock one back in and a the dealer the always have a stock HU just siting around that was pulled from antoher car.

demand that the correct HU be put it.

 

Yes it does. Just got off the phone with the customer service manager and she said she could give me a discount on a new head unit. I said HELL NO! Now I have to go up the ladder at Scion Corporate. I foresee this taking a long time

That is a tough one since it is used. Who knows if that was the stock unit when it was sold new or the other owner through in the cheapest thing before trading it in?

See if the delaership will cut you a check and either swap out with some one here on Scion life or take the money and ebay it.

So I was able to get the scion customer experience department to help me out. They were as nice as could be. Got me a brand new head unit so I'm now happily listening to my iPod.
