no jute avail?
Ok so I pulled my door panels to seal the inner door off etc, and decided hey, why not go a little further and put jute in between the panel too. But when I try and find any, nobody has any and most never even heard of it.
But maybe it's my understanding, isn't it the gray fibrous stuff that's attached to the bottom of our carpets? that's what I'm looking for... so wth?

You might find some jute padding like you are thinking of at a good upholstery shop. I would suggest possibly using sheets of polyester batting tho (like use for stuffing seats when upholstering. Will deaden some sound and is alot lighter than jute and also does not absorb moisture like real jute would. (there are synthetic backings (heavy) like jute also).

^^ is that just the same as poly-fil? I think I saw that at walmart..
but it would be interesting applying that stuff and keeping it on... unless it's in a roll, but it seems like a big fat bag of fil.

Instead of using jute, go with a closed cell polymer. The closed cell foam is lighter in weight and will achieve similar or better results. I used 1/8" sheets. On the floor I tacked it down on the top of the sound deadener with a decent glue. The doors each got two layers of the stuff and it was light enough I was even able to line the roof with it. The stuff I found was a bright blue and it's used as an underlay for wood flooring as a vapor barrier. You can get 1/32", 1/16", and 1/8" at most hardware stores. If you want to go even thicker than that, you would need something like Luxury Liner from Second Skin or similar.

spr0k3t's suggestion is probably the best, but here is another alterative:
This is found in the carpet section at Lowes and is some sort of synthetic material. It is about as dense as just, but since it is made of plastic it won't absorb moisture and get nasty the way jute would. I used it under the carpets in my '62 Comet in place of the factory jute material and it worked well.

Hey guys thanks for the replies and suggestions!
I did actually see that blue stuff at home depot, it was a monster roll but I didn't even notice if they had a smaller amount of it. But if I can't get that.. well
My first choice was the luxury liner, but its kind of $$ so I thought of jute...so I'll try for the blue stuff, if that doesn't work it looks like I'll have to call Anthony @ secondskin yet again for more stuff lol
