Default Ordered my system

Alpine CDA-9833
XM Direct Tuner
XM Alpine Smart Adapter
Sony XM-SD46X to power
Polk Audio db6500 6.5 Components (front and rear)
Sony XM-SD61X to power
Polk Audio 124DVC 12" subs (x2)

Gonna run 2ga from battery to dist block. 4ga from block to amps. 12ga speaker wire from the amps to the crossovers and from crossover to components.

Also going to have an AutoPage RS655 (alarm/remote start).

Local shop wanted about $550 to install everything, so I'm going to do it myself.

I'm sure I'll get the mandatory SonySucks posts, and such, but I'm open to all comments. Bring it on.

um... sony sucks.

why would you buy something that you know sucks?

and i haven't exactly heard rave reviews about polk componenents either.

i'd say your solid choice was with the 9833.

have fun when you upgrade

Actually, the new Sony stuff is good. I am not a sony fan at all, but the Amps that you selected are going to be good. The subs you got are wrong for the amp though. You can get the same sub but not in DVC and the sony amp will put out more power.

The sony amp put out peak power at 2 ohms, and with the subs you commented on will give you a 4 ohm load, or a 1 ohm load and put the amp into protection.

Install is most of what your system will be. Make sure you take your time so you do it right.

Jason... thanks for the lookout. I guess I've over analysed this thing so much that I forgot some thing that obvious. Gave them a call and changed to the SVC subs instead.

thx again.

Sony does suck and you should have gotten the CDA-9835 for a couple bucks more ... but other then that ... not to shabby ... let us know how it sounds!

Crutchfield had the 9833 on clearance for $300. Retail on the 9835 was $499.99. Comparison didn't show me another $200 worth of features that I needed.

I'm sure I'll continue to get ragged on about the Sony amps, but some sales reps I talked to said the Sony Escalade at CES had the amps and it sounded pretty good. They are CEA-2006 rated, so the wattage has to be correct. I'm not looking for SPL quality sound, so as long as it sounds a bit better than the stock setup, I'll be happy.

Take some picts when you have everything installed. Good choice, on installing it yourself. It took me an about 30min, to install my system. Not hard at all.

I'm figuring closer to 7-10 days to install everything (working a couple hours a day after work on weekdays).

If you could install everything I listed in my original post in 30 minutes, I not sure if I'd be impressd... or scared to turn it on.
