Default People with remote start....

I am about to get a remote start on my tC and I don't know which transponder bypass kit to get. I did a google search and found this:

http://69.20.48.211/browseproducts/C...er-PKT-II.HTML

It doesn't say specifically which models it is used for. That is the PKT II. I also found the PKT but it says its only compatible with Toyota/Lexus Models 97-02. Does anyone know for sure if the PKT II or the PKT will work with the tC? I do not want to give up one of my keys.

why would you have to give up a key??? only they old school ones make you do that. get a Autopage 855. thats what the shops around here sell. 3 of us in our chapter of se have it

The 855 is a great unit (I have it in my Xb), but that does nothing to solve his transponder bypass problem. The 855 does not come with a bypass module (no alarm/remote start does). The Xb does not require a bypass but I take it that the TC does. So, you have 2 choices- you can use a bypass that takes a key or one that does not. If you don't want to give up a key or have another made use the no-key type module. I am 99% sure the PKT module will work for you, but I would hoot them a email first to double check it.

Check out the DEI transponders one of them keeps you from having to put a key under the dash. (might be only for ford though)

If you really done want to lose a key buy an uncut one from ebay or howardkeys.

If they dealership says they cant program it becuase its not cut then simply unplug the remote wire put the uncut key in the ignition and hit remote start on the keypad. Its the same as turning the car on and off without starting it.

The DEI 555X or 555F (not exactly sure my papers are packed up right now) does not require a key but it requires programming and a capsule but next to the key cylinder. And if it slips you need to keep takign the car apart and taping it up or doing something to get it to stay in place.

I use these on occations and hate them becuase they have to be so perfect. I like to use a key and hide it.

Ebay as them for $20 if you want it.

i definetly agree with smartass...

the units with the capsules will work but are extremely sensitive, and is very hard to get to work with the tc's... the regular one is a bit tricky as well on that car, as to not have it bulge around the shroud...

offtopic: i see your in the area now smartass welcome!

the 555F works great for Fords, but not so great on Toyotas.

Oooh, SmartAss is in NJ now... I might have to take a drive north... if he wants to make my sunroof open automagically from the remote. ;)
