Default pilar painting question

hey, i painted my a, b, and c pillars black a while back and some of the pieces need some touching up now. i want to do something different now. i want them to be smooth without the texture they have. my question is what is the best grit sandpaper to use on them to sand them down smooth? ultimately i want them to have a smooth painted fiber glass finish.
