BUT, if you want real performance -- go with a company like Resonant Engineering. Great company, their products are unbelievable. You want real SQ/SPL? Elemental Designs has you covered... don't like them? Try Adire Audio.

All great companies, and the "big names" can't even BEGIN to hold a candle to them.
I don't think at $120.00 a piece I overpaid for Orion 10's. I am the last person that is going to go overboard and spend an ___ load of money on something because it carries a certain name. As far as JL, I have had the same 6 JL 8w6's for over 10 years, in out of different cars with different amps and have always ran them hard. As far as I am concerned I am not sure I would have bought anything but them had they kept making the 8w6's. I haven't tried any of the ones you mentioned but I also wouldn't start ragging on them without having bought them or used them.

Oh right on Sam! you tell'em! I hit 144.9db's on a termpro mic at the SLAP show this past sunday. I'm running 4-10" USD Millenium subs in a custom sealed enclosure. I'm powering them with a Crossfire v2000d amp and let me tell you it felt awsome running those numbers! This was my first time running the meter, and my system isn't even completely tuned/time alligned yet! Can't wait to see what numbers I run when everything is done and dialed in.

Nice...
I've always been a firm believer in you get what you pay for.
Case in point......
Lanzar 2000w amp compared to my eclipse 2000w amp...
Lanzar ($159.99) Eclipse ($1,499.00 original retail)
I was just throwing out a dollar figure with the Lanzar and the retail for the eclipse is down to like $850.00 at some stores.

But my point is the expensive stuff is expensive for a reason. I know it sucks because I'm sure it only like takes $5 in raw material to make a W7 but it's the design, research and technology that go into making the speaker that jacks the price up.

Anyway....just rambling.

Honestyl I wish I could unlock the key to what makes a sub great and i would just built my own equipment.....

There was an Iasca event this past sunday, and I managed a 139.4 with 2 diamond audio 12s and about 300 watts. Not to bad for a SQ system.

Well dang.
I am going to be pushing over 2500watts to my system. That's 2000watts to the subs alone.
I hope I can get those #'s!.....
Is 139 good? I mean I am sure it is for your setup but does that rattle your senses pretty good?
You say you have a SQ system what kind of components are you running? DOes your SPL drown out the components?

i am running (2) 15's that are 2000 watts each and hit the 146.3. after seeing the other numbers that were run I was kind of hoping for more, but people kept on saying that you need to break in speakers (which i didn't know) and my system needs to be tuned. you should be able to get above the 139. i have noticed it will come down to box design also. my spl doesn't drown out my components either. it can be heard over the all the base.

I've done 146.8 with 2 10's with the mike by the center console and the kick panel. I think I could probally squeze out a 148 to 150. I also did a 157.8 at the plane of the port I could also get this number up with a little tuning. My 2 10's are rediculos and make the right rear quater panel sound and look like its about to fly off .

What 10's are those? The first response of the topic is me telling about this guy saying he hit like a 158 with a diamond 12.
I guess that sounds more conceivable at the port.....if other people have done it then I guess I gotta give the guy credit.

What are Xsite?

I spoke with a gentleman yesterday that had 4 RE 8" subs in his single cab S10. He told me something weird...... He told me that he had the subs custom made and the voice coils were form the RE MT's. I saw his amp and he only had 600watts going to all four subs and he claimed to hit 151 db at the dash..... If that is what 151 sounds like then that is plenty for me.... It sounded really nice

first go to Xsiteusa.com and check them out. My 10" will do more than a 152.00 at the port. and yes his truck probally does do 150's. I've seen S-10's with 2 8" knock A 20 ounce bottle off his roof. Trucks are the easiest cars to make bass out of especially S-10's. I'm about to build a 1990 civic hatchback with 12 10" and 6 800 watt amps and 4 battery and a bat-cap 300 or 400. I'll see what it does

WARNING: Long term exposure to DB levels of 110+ can cause sever damage to the ears and eyes....

I do this for a living and My ears, eyes and lungs start to hurt at anything past a true 130 dbs... maybe a little less...
on a serious note keep it safe!

Haha...Good looking out...

If four 8's and 600watts can hit 151 at the dash of a S-10 then I'm hoping to out perform that with two 15's and 2000watts in my xB.

Time will tell I guess....

on the 19th in joliet il i hit a 135.5 with my hifonics atlas and a kicker 1200.1 i have a sealed box that i had made the day before and the amp had just got put in the morning of the show at a gas station in aurora. i think thats preaty good since i didnt even tune it or any thing. i ended up getting 2nd place it was for a usaci show at the battle of the imports. once i break this stuff in and get my stuff tuned it should hit alot harder another thing that was probly effecting it is the fact that i have the stock headunit still.
