Powering a sub, wire placement suggestions
I tried searching, and couldnt find anything on this topic...I took my system out of my old volvo, and want to throw it in my xB, but I have no idea on how to get the amp power to the battery. I used to run it through my door jamb area, but I cant do it with the scion. I really dont want to have to go through the firewall...at the moment, I need to figure out where a good spot (in the trunk) to ground the amp would be, and what the best track is to wire cables from the amp to my radio/battery. Also, if anyone knows what kind of wiring harness kit I need off the top of their head, let me know...I havent seen any specific scion models.
If there is another post that contains the answers, please link me to it...I couldnt find one for the life of me.

Best way is through the grommet in the firewall:

I used a '86-05 Toyota non-premium aftermarket radio harness. Works fine.
Aftermarket radio to Scion:

Factory radio to other vehicle:

I bought both to make a plug-in harness w/LOC + remote 12v lead. Good seller, good prices...no rip-off shipping.

any ideas on a place to ground? I want to find a screw or something that is already there, near the spare.
Also...throughout that post, I didnt see anyone mention how to get the AUX wires up into the radio...any good places to hide/run those?

Yeah...I didnt even think about putting my amp under the seats, thats not a bad idea. I probably need a fuse too, I ran the same system without one for 2 years and probably got lucky...yall know of a middle man type fuse? i.e. one I can just splice into the wire, and crimp down...dont want to solder anything.

There is no room to put an amp under the rear seat.
I meant the front seats, I noticed they had alot of room under them whe I was trying to figure out how to lower the darn things...and you cant
I would love to put it in the little storage cubby next to the spare, but that doesnt seem like a good idea.

There is already a grommet near there that does not require drilling through your firewall or putting a grommet in or worrying about causing rust where you exposed fresh metal to the environment.
Don't tell me I'm wrong. I know what the hell I'm doing. It's standard practice across the nation. Rusting isn't a problem if you put some strip caulk around the grommet. Talk to any installer.
