Default Problem with 2006 xB CD & AUX Buttons

I just bought a 2006 xB Camo (in addition to the Salsa Red). The CD and AUX buttons don't work. You press them and they won't change mode. The FM & AM buttons work fine.

Before anyone asks, it is a 2006 and not a 2006.5 so no steering wheel controls but it does have the AUX under the ebrake.

Normally, those buttons won't operate unless there's a cd already inside or the aux has a source plugged. When there's none present...non-activation helps if you accidentally press those options.

I typically do't use CDs, but that is not the case for the AUX connection. My 2006.5 is in AUX mode when we crank it up until you turn on the XM.

For the 2006 Camo (that has the problem), I have the XM radio on and plugged in to the AUX connection but the button on the head unit won't change mode.

Thanks anyway.

Have you checked back behind the head unit to see that everything is plugged in ok? Additionally, the aux port connector under the center console might be loose. Pull out the center face plate and see if the connector is plugged in as well.

If everything checks out and you still have the problem then I'd suggest that your swap out the Head unit with the one in you other xB. If the HU from your salsa red xB exhibits the same problem then its the wiring in your car, if it doesn't then it just means you have a bad HU. Best of luck.

Good ideas. I was starting to think along the same lines. I'll check the connections at the HU and the AUX plug.

Fixed! One of the plugs in the back of the radio was not connected. Also, I did find that you do need something plugged into the AUX outlet for it to change mode. At least on a 2006 this is the case.
