Default Problem(wiring, Luminics) Updated with Pics

Ok. So today I was driving and suddenly my passenger side low beam lightbulb dies. I say, no prob, and I go home to plug my stock sylvania's back into my car. When I take out my luminics hyper white I notice that the harness is black. The contact point with the light bulb(female metal part on the wiring harness). Its the metal part. I put my stock ones in and try to turn the lights on, but nothing. My question is will this be covered under warranty? I know the stock were 51watt and the luminics are 55watt. Does this void my warranty? What wattage are we allowed to go up to.

I would notify Luminics immediately, and if it is still within 60 days they have a unconditional guarantee.

(and post what they do, because I have them to)

I will post pics later today. But does anyone know if a 55watt bulb will void warranty?

Out of curiosity...how did you know that? How do you know that maybe the original poster didn't do somenthing wrong? or maybe that just the bulb went out and caused the problem??

Yeah, they have a warranty....ON THE BULB. If he's luky, they'll send him another Luminics bulb so he can fry the other side.

Its the passenger side low beam. The driver side low beam harness is fine. Maybe bad harness on passenger side or bad bulb. Don't know which one caused the problem. But still ____ed either way.

As far as I know, if you're going to run higher wattage bulbs, you need to have beefier harnesses... *shrug*

ok how hard is it to change a bulb? twist out and switch. The only harm u can do is to touch the bulb but that would only cause to the bulb.

This is how I knew luminics were cheap.

1. Serveral people including myself had ask whats the wattage on these bulbs. Luminics has try to avoid answering the question serveral times. Until it was repeatedly questioned about. And Luminics responses saying it is in fact the same wattage.

2. If it is in fact same wattage how can something like this occur?
Lets say I give you the benefit of the doubt, You're telling me loose wiring? bad connection from factory? If so y didn't it burn w/ the stock bulbs?

3. What makes Luminics anymore appealing to me and the average crap bulbs on eBay?

let me ask the usual questions

1. did you touch the bulb with your bare hands?
2. was the bulb wet or was it raining?
3. has the harness been tampered with before?

The luminics are 55W, the factory are 52w. 3w should not cause these types of problems. I'm sure the factory wiring can handle the extra current draw. Honestly it sounds as if it shorted inside the bulb and cause it to burn the wire until a major fuse blew or the wire was burnt past being able to conduct electricity.

Gee, does anyone really think the mechanics that service these cars are stupid enough to believe that the harness would be roasted but the filiment in the bulb would still be good? Those two don't go hand in hand. Personally, (and it's just my opinion) lying doesn't help to establish a good relationship with the dealer that you need servicing your car.

If the wire is just melted, butt splice in a new socket which you can get cheap at any auto parts store (check the fuse) and be done with it.
