Default Purple Lights Question

Okay, I'm not so crazy into the mod stuff yet, but as I read more and more on this forum, I am getting very interested!

This pic I saw on the one thread interested me. I'm getting the colored cupholder lights on my tC and I think that it comes as a package with the underdash lights.

My first question is whether or not this is true. I saw it on the accessories thread but I'm not sure if that is indeed confirmed.

My second question is: Can I change the color of the bulbs in those underdash lights to make them purple and how hard is this? Can I do it myself?

One more question: Can I get purple lights for my speedometer and stuff?

Please let me know and sorry for my ignorance, I'm new at this!!!!

Thanks!!!

get cold cathodes and LED's. put them in ur self. youll save a hell of alot of money. discount auto parts, pepboys, and autozone usually have small pre-wired LED lights. u can buy the cold cathodes from different computer stores or online.

in regards to the speedometer, you can try the sharpie method.

okay, what are cathodes? and what is the sharpie method?

are you suggesting that i don't even get the LED kit as an option? i didn't think $250 was that bad for the underdash AND the cupholder?

Get beat lights... There are sound activated lights and you can get the receiver that sets them off and attach whatever lights you want...

My friend once ran theater style floor lights in the floor of his Corolla... It looked weird at first but it was dope after you sit and marvel at it...

I'm going to keep it simple and get a few tubes of neon that jumps to the beat... I don't like lights, but driving at night is really fun to see your car light up to the music... It's very bothersome at first tho...

cold cathodes are lights that are way brighter than the factory lights and last much longer. also alot less in cost. they are originally for computers, but randode( the originator im guesin), myself, and many others have figured out how to make them work. very simple. there are many threads on how to do this.

the cup holder leds are like 7.99 at those auto stores, but i thikn purple ones are gonna be hard to find.

as i have not used the sharpie method, i have read about it and it looks fairly simple. its posted as one of the tech articles, dont exactly know if it will be different with the tC, but it shouldnt be that hard.

Default Off Switch

I've never actually seen anyone have one of these internal LED's in a car. Are they on all the time or is there a switch? Do the kits for putting your own in have a switch? I think the LED look is sweet inside the car but depending on the occassion, might be annoying or inappropriate.

As for the cup holder thing, do they actually come in kits or are you talking about installing fromt scratch just using an LED from radioshack?
