Default question for all of you audio guys

i just got done installing my new kenwood kdc-x789 into my tc. i am more than impressed with the difference it made. i am now looking to upgrade the speakers and possibly an amp.

I would like just a little more power., and would like to stay all kenwood. crutchfield says that the KFC-X168 will not fit in the tc. anyone know if the will or will not for sure?

as for an amp....i know nothing about them, from what i have learned, i want a multi channel ( i am putting no subs), though i dont need much wattage at all. can anyone reccommend a good cheap small amp? preferrably kenwood....

thanks

Why would you want to stay all kenwood? You're really limiting yourself.

running an aftermarket headunit u'll be set for a lil while cuz the power is more and its clean.

as for running more crap, just get yourself a 4 ch amp and amp your stock speakers. u will be amazed at the quality.
honestly, if u have about 3-4 bills set aside, u should get the
MTX 5 ch amp. the 4 ch gives u a ____LOAD of power.
and the 5ch channel is for your future sub(if u want) and it runs CLASS-D so it won't get hot!

that amp is SUPER impressive. its the 564 or somehting like that.

www.cardomain.com has it on special..
mtx amps are a lot better since the rockford guys left and joined mtx. all the newest technology is in mtx(from my own experience)..

BUT keep in mind, everyone has their own opinion on whats good and not. im just recommending what would suit your need.. IN MY OPINION.

Just get yourself a 4 ch 30 wt RMS amp for you stock speakers. If you don't want stock then do this;
The front speakers are 6 1/2" and the back are 5 1/4 or 5 1/3.
I put 6 1/2 all around in my tC. I had to modify the back a bit, but it looks clean. The speakers in the tC are made incorporated into the basket and speaker mount. So I needed the speaker mount and knocked out the speaker. Beware, once you do that the stock speaker is trash.
Just to let you know so you are not suprised, the front speakers are mounted to the doors by rivets. I know I was shocked too. You will need a hammer and a chissel or a spackel knife. If you need help at all PM me. I did mine like 5 months ago.

Good luck,
Pete

you don't need a hammer and chisel.....just drill the hole out of the middle of the rivet.........
