Default Question: Viper 791xv security/alarm system

I just got my xB last night. I want to buy the security system. Viper 791xv looks pretty nice. Someone sells it around $190 on pricegrabber (shipping included).

I have never had experience on installing security system. I would like to know your opinion. If this is too difficult for me, I might have the work done by those licensed technicians. Does anyone know the installation price?

Thanks!

if you have never done it before, the 791 might be too much for you.

there are about 80 wires.

take it to an experienced person. job will get done right and quick. might cost about 200 to install it.

ALL Dei products, especially the Viper series come with really good install instructions right out of the box. i'm an installer and it was one of the easiest autostarts/alarms ive installed.

Actually the 791 is propbably one of the most detailed alrams out in the market what come with install instruction.

All alarm have about 60 wires... you dont have to use every single one, depending on what your gonna use it for..

The 791 and the audiovox 901 are so far the best ones in the market. I had one installed on Mystics TC for about 150. or 2 hours labor.

true that you don't use all the wires, but if you are not used to doing it, it can be complex.

Viper does have a nice instruction booklet, if you feel like you are up for it.

Thank you for all your input! It looks like 791xv is a good buy. It is just the installation part. $150 - $200 does not sound bad if I could not put it on myself.

As i will always say on threads like this spend the money and pay us professionals to do it, yeah $160 dollars is a lot of money, but the time and effort you save is worth it and if somthing goes wrong with it after install you bring it back to were you got installed and have them troubleshoot the problem, if you do it yourself your stuck figuring out the problem and if you messed somthing up your the only one to blame. So weigh the issue and see what comes out on top. But viper 791 is a very nice alarm, good choice.

whenever I get mine, i will have it installed by a technician if the installation is not over $200.

Started my Viper 791 install today. Instructions are pretty detailed but not always 100% clear. I got the alarm portion to operate without any problems. Will be working on the remote start part later.
I would gladly have paid say a hundred bucks to have it done and over with in one setting!
Good part is that I now feel closer to my box!
