Default Radom Play on 6 CD Changer

OK, so I have loaded the 6 CD player on my Hot Lava with my favorite 80's greatest hits for crusing the strip. Now I have not made a scientific study of this, but it seems to me that it plays the same group of 20 or so songs. There must be a hundred songs on the CDs that are in there, but it keeps coming back to this small group. Don't get me wrong, Zappa's Valley Girl is a classic, and the Vapors Turning Japanese can't be beat, but there are other songs in the player that I want to hear.

Anyone with the same experience? Maybe random is not really random?

I am kind of disappointed. Maybe there is a way to reset the unit?

Help!

Oh, don't make too much fun of my favorite songs, that is not the point of this post.

See ya

I got the 6cd changer in my xB also and I noticed the randomize on mine sometimes repeats songs too. I havent played any lists long enough to determine if it plays only a certain amount of songs in the list. Its not really a true randomizer. But then again dont expect anything fancy with a stock unit.

i have the 6 changer also. mine only plays on 1 cd at a time. to change the cd you have to actually hit the button. i was hoping that it would shuffle through all of them.

I have the single disc and this is what happens with multiple MP3 folders...I don't know if the 6 is the same or not ...

I think there are two random settings - If you just push the random button once, it will shuffle the tracks in the folder you are in. If you push the button and hold it for a sec or 2, it lights up differently under the button and then will shuffle thru all the folders and songs.

Give that a try and it might do the same for the changer...

As far as the music selections... LIKE, OmiGOD! That is like sooo totally _____in...

Let us know if this works.

thats probably in the manual huh... I was wondering if that was possible. I ended up making a couple cds with all the mp3s in the same folder.

RTFM??? Only as a last resort and when nobody's lookin.

I think I hit a bump when I was pushing the button and it jammed my finger down for longer...

The shortcoming I hate is there is no way to skip ahead to a new random track. ANd why you can't scan ahead on the song titles without changing the track.

Why is it my $99 Rio cd player could do those and more 2 years ago? What's it cost Pioneer to produce one of these HUs , I wonder... It seems like the in-car MP3 players are having to start at the most basic level and slowly evolve. I thought they would've got a jump ahead since all this crap is on the market already

And about the manual - I didn't get any kind of Pioneer manual and the xB manual makes ABSOLUTELY no mention of the stereo. It even has a blank spot in any of the pics that show the spot where it should be... wassup wit dat? Did anyone else get a separate manual for the stereo?

I whined to my dealer about not getting a manual for the Pioneer. They scored me one a week later. It covers both the single and 6 cd changer. Only problem? It's for an '05 changer, and the '04 in my xB doesn't have the customizable display feature.

As to the subject on hand- I have a bunch of MP3 cds, all songs in one directory, and I've noticed a surprising amount of replaying of the same songs when in random mode- but here's what I observed-

I drive the xb about 80 miles each way to work. During that single driving session I never hear the same song twice, but if I go for short trips and turn the power on and off after a short while, I seem to hear the same songs more frequently.

I believe the HU doesn't hold the songs previously played in memory when the power is turned off, so it starts fresh every time it's powered back on, remembering only the volume/EQ settings/ssp choice/ color display/play mode, the directory selected, and the CD. It also doesn't remember if it was in Mute mode, and as far as I can tell-the songs that had been previously played.

Cheers,

Cooper

Not the best workaround, but if you hit the Random button twice (off then on again) it will skip to a new random track.
