Default Rear Floor Cover - Got Dogs?

Thought I'd share how I made the back of my XB "dog friendly."

Material;
One 4x8 sheet of 7/16 OSB. $8.25 at Home Depot
One roll 6x10 indoor/outdoor carpet. $16.00 at Home Depot.
One 4'x3' wire fencing. (I had already)
Scrap cardboard to make a template.

1. Make a template of the floor out of a couple of large pieces of cardboard that fits around the rear shock cover area.
2.Trace onto 4x8 sheet. Cut with jigsaw.
Cover board with carpet. I just stapled the carpet, you could glue also.

Now I have a removeable floor for extended dog trips. This also covers the space between the front and rear folded seats which makes a complete floor.

To finish it off, I added a small piece of wire fence between the rear seat and the floor panel. I just attached this with a couple of hooks to the headrest supports of each seat.

All can be installed or removed in a few minutes.
Now if I can just keep their noses off of the windows!

Nice job, what a great idea!

It would also be handy for times where you need to carry plants, bricks, cement or whatever. I carry tools from job to job and this would be great. I am doing a tile job soon and I wish I had one made for the tile saw and stand.

No ripped seats, no dirt or grime on the upholstery. Super EZ clean up.

Off to Home Depot...

As you see in the 4th pic...Get a Standard Poodle. They do not shed! Great watch dogs. Smart breed.

P.S. 3 puppies left for sale!!

Great idea! I could make a smaller version for my xA. I have two Jack Russells that love to ride, and I'm always covering the inside with blankets! This looks much more functional and convenant.

Is it OK to use a workbench and sawhorses or is it better to jigsaw on a Chevy Cavalier?

A friend that builds everything for his dogs uses the cedar closet lining particle board for his projects to minimize ticks, fleas and whiff of wet dog.

Actuall it's a Chevy Colbalt and it's a company car, so yes, it is a sawhorse!
