Rear hatch inside Panel.
Rear hatch inside Panel, I've seen Color matched plastic, the Amp and lights, Folding Tv screen., But what else is there?
I searched and searched.

It's actually a dead space - there's nothing in there. There's a hard plastic carpet covering it with 14 or so plastic tacks - behind it is the metal to the door itself and the rear wiper mechanism.
There's not much you can do back there without really weighing the door down. It'd be nice if there were some kind of aftermarket kit that made a storage space out of it, but oh well...

Just by casual observation, this is what I noticed looking at my 05's door.
The struts are fairly thin. They're designed to do the job and not much more. The mount on the car frame looks fairly strong, but the mount on the door itself is small - I don't know if you could mount a bigger strut in that space.
Furthermore, the actual strut, when completely compressed, overlaps the rear tail lights slightly. I don't know how much width is remaining, but as you can imagine, not that much.
With extra welding and some custom fab work you could probably put shallow subs in there if you wanted, but it truly depends on how much work you want to put into it. However, the more and more I look at it the less and less it seems you can do with that door... which is a shame, since the bottom of the door is about 2" tall - that's a bit of volume to give up for absolutely nothing but air...
