Default remote control of stero equipment

I haven't had the spare time to set up my profile or anything but I have a Scion xB, the hot lava version. It came with a 6 disc, mp3 playing cd player. I recently got two 10" subs in it and I upgraded the speakers in it. I enjoy popping the hatch and talking to friends and such, while playing the music in the background, but it is a pain to have to run back to the head unit to jump around songs or change volume and other settings. I really don't want another stero unit, so is there anyway I can put together a remote controller without replacing the unit?

why don't you want to replace it, the stock sucks, and isn't ment to have subs hooked to it. I don't think that you can just put a remote on it, it would have to be made for the headunit and I don't think they make a remote for a stock car headunit

The fact that it can hold six mp3 discs is really well, I already bought some amplifying parts that run off the headunit anyways. It sounds really good the way I have it set it up, so I would rather not spend a ton of money trying to find a six disc changer that plays mp3 cds and has a remote control piece, it just wouldn't be worth the money.

I doubt a remote exists for the stock hu...worst case - put the factory hu and those parts on ebay...you'll get enough $$ to buy a decent hu and some extra to put towards a cd changer.. It's only a matter of time(like now) before the factory deck can no longer meet your needs.

Yeah that is a good idea, hopefully there is someone out there that would want my hu for enough money to make it worth getting rid of it and getting a new one. Someone would probably want the upgraded one that I got in my car also.

You won't regret getting rid of the factory HU, trust me. There is so much to be unleashed even from factory speakers just by going to a new deck.

I had the stock headunit with a sub hooked up.. it sounded like crap. You only have a few bass settings with the stock unit as well, so its either really loud.. or really crappy. I replaced it with the new Alpine and I couldn't be happier. It comes with a remote. Definently worth what I paid for it ($270 not bad)
