not true. i tried that. You need to open the 12v circuit on the top switch and close the neg switch on the bottom.

All i did was buy a switch from a tacoma with the "clutch start cancel" feature and hooked it up in my car so it looks factory and i can return it to factory condition. The light is even amber
Thats right, I also jumped the two wires from the unplugged switch together.

Get an alarm that has a "Reservation Mode" Like the Compustar. I have the CM3000/SC2W900FMR (it's branded scosche but is the compustar unit, just a different sticker). If I want to be able to remote start, I just pull the ebrake up and the car prepares for reservation mode. I take out the key from the ignition and the engine keeps running, this is to prevent me from leaving the car in gear.. I can't very well get out of a moving car.. Once every door has been shut, the car turns itself off and arms the alarm / locks the doors. Now the system knows the car cannot be in gear. If any doors are opened, the reservation mode is cancelled and remote start disabled.... in case your girlfriend goes to your car to get her purse and accidently bumps the shifter somehow into gear.. etc.

Thats the same compustar unit I have, Very nice, extremely long range, and definitely the safe way to go if you have a manual.
