Remote Start Not Working Anymore!
I have a viper 791xv in my xb for about a year. Today even though its hot out, I decided to hit the remote start. What happens is, the engine turns on for a second, then shuts off, then turns on, then shuts off, and it keeps doing this. How come its not staying on? What could have happened. The last thing I installed was my underglow, and I didnt cme close to any wiring with the alarm.
your tach wire / engine sensor wire is not picking up that the motor is on .... you can try to unplug the main harness from the alarm box and wait 10secs then plug it back in . it may reset it to auto sensor . it could be a bad relay ... as well ...
it sounds like the tach wire isn't hooked up/or programmed... double check to see if one fo the small plugs at the alarm brain are disconnected... it should have a purple/white wire attached... if not take it back to wherever you got it installed at...
Where can I order parts for the alarm? I tried calling dei to get some replacement parts, but I cant because im not a dealer. Is there anywhere online I can get some parts. Also, how can I possibly reprogram the remote start? I mean It starts for a second, then shuts off, then starts a few seconds later and just keeps repeating the process. So Possibly just needs a reprogram. Nothing is lose on the brain, possibly the tach wire is lose on the engine, but i doubt it.
I would also point to the tach sensor wire. Common starting systems usually start the car and the car is running then turns off. Does your car actually fire up in idle mode then shut off? Or does the vehicle crank and the vehicle doesn't fire up. If your vehicle cranks and starts then shuts off then it's definitely tach sensor wire. If it doesn't start at all then it could be more than the tach sensor wire or your alarm configuration doesn't have a long enough start/retry configuration.
The remote start has worked fine for a year. As far as I can tell it actually starts up for about a second, then goes right off, and starts again momentarily. The tach sensor wire is definately connected to the brain, but possibly loose on the engine. Ill have to check that out tomorrow. So it cant be a program issue?
The remote start always trys 3 time to start. To reprogram turn car on and hold valet button for 3 seconds if you hear the brain click or see the led flash your tach is programmed. If it still doesnt start its something else.
