Scion Alarm Install Question..
I am an installer at circuit city, and I got an alarm installed in my xb before i worked here. I just purchased the new python 990 sst alarm system as an upgrade to my old viper 791xv. As I was taking out the alarm I noticed the place they tapped my locks was in the drivers kick panel, brown/yellow, and green/black. Im not sure which was lock and which was unlock, but thats where they had it tapped to. Now my question is, why did they tap there, when every diagram I look at lists a blue/white and yellow/black wire? What wire did they tap, I didnt test it yet, but im just curious. It worked perfectly for a year, so I guess it is correct somehow or another.
somwhere in these forums is the factory wiring manuals for the tc.. im sure the ones for the xb are on here somewhere.. personally i baught mine on ebay wiht a full set of repair manuals. it shows colors of wires, connector locations.. everything. you could double check those wires? hope this helps
im thinking the wires they tapped into are the actual motor control wires for the power lock and unlock, eg, they are the ones that run right into your door and work the power locks directly. i would personally use the wires mentioned in the wiring guide. if you have a passenger unlock wire also on your alarm i would attach it with the regular unlock wire and i beleive they both go into the yellow black, it works like a charm. I know i had to do half my alarm install myself because my local alarm shop just couldnt seem to get it right.
