Today was the big annual Macworld keynote speech, where Steve Jobs usually unveils a bunch of new products.

He mentioned in his speech that Scion will be including iPod capabilities in its cars.

funny thing is if you go to ipod.com and click on "accessories" it lists every manufacturer Steve Jobs mentioned EXCEPT for Scion.

Yep, this just confirms the rumor.

Don't know why it's not on the Accessories page - it wasn't something Jobs casually tossed off, the Scion logo appeared on the screen behind him as he said it. Maybe he made a deal with Farley to wait for an official Scion "reveal" (maybe at the same time as the dL?) before posting anything.

 

Yeah, I noticed the same thing. He mentioned them specifically in the keynote (Scion logo and all) but they're not mentioned in the press release. Hopefully the iPod kit is something Scion will offer soon, and hopefully its something that can be installed in current Scions.

 

They were asking about it a while back on the "ask scion" forum.

God damn it, I just spent $100 on the alpine ipod thing and $260 on the headunit.

 

Apple is always serious about their product releases. If they say something is coming then it damn well is. Time frame is another story. I will gladly pay a reasonable price for a Scion specific ipod interface IF it means i get text display. i'd pay 250-300 INSTALLED none of this 450 dollar XM crap.
