anyone have this? would you recommend? do you lose the spare?

the sub is a good buy and keeps the spare.... personally, I'd look for a different sub to throw in there

No you don't lose the spare. It works great for me. I've got 250 watts running to it. It doeesn't "pound," but I find it to compliment the stock stereo nicely.

its more of the durable abs plastic right? its not ment for hard hitting just somthing to add to the car.
