I did all of them and left it on the JAPANESE, since it looked cool.
Thanks for the info!

Does anyone else think this is a completely useless feature? Maybe it's just me, but I don't understand why this 'feature' is so cool.

I wrote a post back in June, 2004 asking about this "Secret" feature but no one believed it existed. Thanks for finally finding this "Easter Egg." Here's the thread I'm refering to:

The "secret" features are,,, interesting, but the ability to change the startup text is real nice for those of us that are buying the Scion HUs and are putting them in other Toyotas.

Similarly, those of you explaining features that are in the manual are helpful for those of us that do not have the manual.

I'm having problems changin to JP too ; ;

Thanks for making this thread, i don't have a scion, but i have a scion HU and of course i didn't get a manual when i bought it lol.

Is there any indication that you've went into "Secret Mode"? I don't see/hear anything when i hold "A" and turn the key to ACC. I'm wondering if this only works with a scion HU in a scion car, i hope not. I think i have a 2005 unit too because when i hold the SSP button for 10 sec to change the setting for what type of scion, i have options xA,xB, & tC. Someone told me the 04's don't have the tC option. Please help me out, i speak/read/write JP and it would be pimp to have Scion in katakana m(__)m

I finally got it done but it took awhile to do it right. Here's a tip. Before you start, load the CD and put it on track 2 then shut of the key, then hold A and turn the key to ACC, then do whichever one of the 4 that you want and shut off the key quick. I tried doing it as writen but loading the CD and going to track 2 took too long!

EDIT: got it to work w00t "saion" <(__)>

what was the other trick, to like set some personal message. The one were you hold "M" instead of "A"?

Yeah, I tried it everwhich way and couldn't get it till the way I noted. And it sure helps having the CD already in and on track 2!
