Seeing any iPod troubles/issues?
Hey,
Since I've gotten my tC and been using my 4G (click-wheel) iPod with the iPod upgraded stereo, my iPod went all wonky (and yes, that's a technical term.
).
Ultimately, it's hard drive failed, so I'm thinking that that probably isn't the tC's radio/hookup's fault.
Then I got a replacement iPod, and it seems to be working just fine, mostly.
The strange thing I've noticed since I've been using the replacement iPod over the last week and a bit, is that the iPod doesn't always get charged by the connector. I've taken it out of the car and noticed that the charge was one third down or so, and on playing with plugging and unplugging it (and then varying the position of the key in the ignition off, ACC, On, car engine going, etc.), I've noticed that there are definitely times (when the battery indicator does not show it to be full) when neither the little charging lightning bolt nor the filling battery appear.
The iPod appears in all other ways to be normal, however. It charges from its dock, it plays fine with the head unit (hm, though it does seem sometimes at the end of the song it's playing, to play a brief snippet of some other song (maybe the next track) before actually shuffling itself to what turns out to be the "real" next song to be played).
And I've tried unplugging and replugging the cable on both ends (going into the console, and going into the iPod).
Also tried resetting the iPod while disconnected, then reconnecting it.
Sooooo.... has anyone seen anything like this with their iPod hookup/iPod? Think it's a preamble for bigger problems coming up?
Where else d'ya think I could go for answers into this sort of thing? Scion service departments?
Thanks for any thoughts.

So I eventually noticed that the iPod was having this same sometimes-charging-sometimes-not problem with my portable speakers that have an iPod connector, and took it into the Apple Store recently.
Turns out there was something wonky about the connector (the diagnostics were showing that it wasn't recognizing a firewire connection when they had it plugged into a dock connector with a firewire connection on the computer end). It was still in warranty, so they just gave me a replacement.
It seems to be working just dandy-ly since I got the new replacement...

My Ipod also plays just a split second of another song, every once in a while, at the beginning of a new song. Thats not my biggest issue though. When I use mine, my head unit will randomly lose power for half a second, then come back. It does this every couple of hours, sometimes more, sometimes less. The HU will just go dark, all of the lights will shut off, then it will come back on and the ipod will still be playing the same song. I think it might be the interface that I'm using. Its the Axxis unit that Circuit City sells. Its the only one I found that works with my Xm radio.

ScionLife.com topic--> 06 iPod problems:
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...asc&highlight=
Basically, the symptoms sound the same, and all it wound up being was a wire that somehow didn't get connected. They should probably be able to fix it pretty easily, but if they have any problems, you could PM moriarty here on Scionlife... I bought my tC from him, and he did the troubleshooting/fix himself.
Please someone help me solve this puzzling problem. When I have my iPod connected and playing, the volume will go up and down during the song. Ipod does not do this when not in car and radio in car does not do this .
Anyone ???
