Default Shift **** for people with a shorter reach

Hi Guys...
I don't post much, although I do read threads fairly often. I've searched for this topic with no success.

I was just curious to see if there was any kind of shift **** or DIYs to extend the shifter a few inches further back. My reach is not very long, and I feel like I have to either over stretch to reach the shifter if I want my legs to be comfortable or bring my seat too far forward to have the shifter at a comfortable reach.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance!!!

What type of tranny do you have? I know plenty of people who extend the manual trans up to almost touch the roof. I don't know about the auto or about moving the shifter back towards the backseat though.....

Oh, I have a manual transmission.

I didn't really expect to actually move the entire transmission backwards. I was just hoping that there was some kind of shift **** out there that kind of extended the shifter back a few inches. I tried the shift extension that goes between the shifter and the shift ****, but it feels somewhat flimsy. I was imagining that there would be some kind of elbow-like shift **** that I could use to replace the stock one.

@Griever: I will check out the Doc Isotope's Lazyboy shifter.

Are there any other recommendations?

Thanks!

My suggestion would be to get one of this guy's shift extensions in 12mmx1.25 thread. I have one and it is rock solid.
If that makes the throw to 5th too far I have two suggestions.
1) Remove the front two bolts holding the shifter assembly to the floor, go buy longer versions and several washers, stack a 1/4-1/2" of washers under the shifter assembly in the front and install the longer bolts. This will tip the entire assembly back and effectively move the shifter backwards.
2) Remove the shift lever itself and take it to an auto body or welding shop and see if they can heat & bend it so it is angled slightly back.

EZ Baked is making some as well, I know he has made one, and I am sure he could make more.

I made an extra-long-throw shifter a few months ago!

I bought an 18" piece of conduit, some set screws, a tap, and a drill bit. I sanded the whole thing down, and hit it with some rubbing compound to clean it up.

The shift throw is hilariously long, and I love it. My girlfriend gets ____ed when I elbow her in the gut when I put it in reverse, but it sucks to be her.
