simple question
One is under the front seats and generally downward firing. A sub in this spot is also limited in its size since larger than 10" subs (and indeed many 10" subs) require bigger boxes to work properly than will fit under the seats.
The other is subwoofer boxes built for the rear area behind the rear seats. There is much more room available here aloowing many differnet combinations.
Sound wise you are going to get what you pay for...larger drivers give bigger sound. Downward firing smallish underseat subs are not going to give you BIG BIG sound but for space efficiency they can be a good compromise.

Another issue with under seat subs is that the bass can be a bit weak from the drivers and passengers vantage points due the the fact that they are so close to the subs that the bass wave has not fully formed as it passes them. I tried under seat subs for a minute...to me they sounded better sitting in the rear of the car than in the front seats ( and I mean sitting behind the back seats). Rear mounted subs sound best...but you have to give up some space (or utility) to do them right. (removable box in the back can be a good option for when you want to haul......Me...I ditched the spare and storage compartment using the space for my subs and amps and did not lose any hauling utility)
