Default Size of radio opening in dash panel?

Would someone with an Xb out there please measure the size of the opening in the dash for the radio for me. Mine is still 3-4 weeks out and I want to start planning some things. Thanks in advance.

It's not a true double-din in that the opening is slightly wider. Does anyone know if they make a kit for the xB to fit a double din? I just ordered a double din and need to fill in the gaps on the sides.

That is exactly what I am doing (seperate screen and dvd player), however I want a larger screen than a 7" in the dash.

What setup are you considering? I'm currently trying to plan the same thing. One option I was considering was the Kenwood DDX7015. It is a 2-DIN system that fills in the entire console space and looks really tight (although it is only 6.5"). Its the first I've seen of this kind. However reading this thread I'm worried that it might not fit. I can get it installed for $1,350 by authorized dealer, but am interested in what other people are considering. Could I get more bang for my buck by getting separate DVD receiver and monitor? What have you been considering?

Here's some info on the Knenwood:

I am definately going to use the Pioneer 5000 in the lower dash and then a fixed screen flush in the top (like many others here). I would actually prefer the Alpine 7996 but I can't justify 400.00 more for the Alpine. The only thing I am undecided on is the size of the screen. I would really prefer a 9" widescreen up there but I need dash measurements to see what fits. I guess I will have to call the dealer (8 hours away) and have him measure one since Scions aren't available here until June. I am pretty sure the 9" won't fit, but hopefully at least an 8".

I was considering the 5000 also. The Kenwood seems cool because it looks like it was custom built for the 2-din space, but it also has no removable face for security. Do you know where I could find pictures of people who have the 5000 in lower deck with a built in in the upper din? Is there a base that the monitor can be taken in and out of? While I have a hardcore security system, my hood is pretty bad for car theft.

Eclipse and Rosen makes a double din also. But i think that Rosen stopped production on their double din. I just got an eclispe double din with Navigation.

Just measured the space for you. 8"w x 4"h. Let me know what you find out about screen sizes and what might fit. Thanks.

Abbfanuc, that Eclipse sytem with navigation is very cool. Does it have any security features? Where did you pick it up?

I just ordered the kenwood ddx7015 from crutchfield for 1399.00 with a free SIRIUS tuner when I also buy an antenna. It should be here by Monday the 8th. What screens should I go with in the headrest, visor, roof? Any suggestions?

OK....Just got all the measurements together (screens and Xb). The 9" is a perfect fit!!!!! I can't wait. The RS is supposed to be here in 3-4 weeks and I will have the screen and dvd player in right away. I'll post pics ASAP. Thanks again to all who replied. Now.... on to the headrest screens.

Which 9" did you go with and how will it be installed?

The unit is a Icon (one of the highest quality screens available) 9" flip down. You have to take it apart and use only the flip down part with the screen. It works really good for this aplication. A friend of mine is helping me, he works at a audio/video store and has done this same setup in 2 H2's and a Navigator and it looks KILLER. Like I said i'll post pics the day I get it done.

I am an authorized Icon-TV dealer and Icon-TV is the shiznuts! I have a 7" widescreen flushed in my dash and two 5.6's in the headrests. I don't know if you are going to be able to pull it off with the 9" flipdown screen for the dash... my 7 is near perfect from top to bottom.
