Default Sound Deadening Log - Work in Progress

Good day,

I have had my box for almost 4 months now, and finally decided to get to work. First up on my plan was sound deadening. After reading a few reviews, looking at price, etc, I went ahead nad decided to go with the Second Skin line of products. Over the last couple of weeks, I have begun the installation.

Products ordered:
80 sq ft Damplifier Pro
1 Gallon Spectrum (liquid)
1 Sheet of OverKill
1 Sheet of OverKill Pro
and misc other bits.

If you are interested, the link to the entire log is at:
http://www.secondskinaudio.com/forum...ead.php?t=1558

I will probably copy the log here when I have finished the project and can clean up the walkthrough. However, I thought I might post the link to the current form, so that if anyone has any comments, suggestions, tips, or questions can post them.

I would like to give a big thank you to this forum for giving me so many ideas and a general idea of how to do all of this. Hopefully in the future I can repay the kindness by giving back a bit (;

Nice work! And nice pics, too.

I wondered what was going on under the carpet, up by the pedals... the foam footrest on my own may have to come out, at least the block at the accelerator... it's clearly there to support Japanese-sized feet, and mine are size 12...

Dunno if makes any difference, but I wrapped dampener over the door support pipe, kinda like taping it to the door panels- should help stiffen things up. The front doors, anyway, had gobs of adhesive between the pipe and the panel in the first place...

Thanks for the tip Jhhnn. I am going to be starting the doors tonight through this weekend. I think I will be doing a layer of Damp on each door, Use some sludge on the pipes, and then then that has dried put in as much of the OverKill as I can.

From the back driver's door, even a single layer of damp makes a huge difference.

A side note: I HIGHLY recommend padding the license plate, doing that really helped improve the sound of closing the hatch, but I hated that cheap tinny rattle.

Heya,

One thing that would be TOTALLY cool would be to have had some recorded audio inside the car at different speeds from the same audio recorder in the same position in the car before and after you are done! We will have to go on your description though, I'm really looking forward to hearing good news man, looks like a lot of hard work!

Sakko, that is an excellent idea. To be honest, if I was doing this all over again, I would spend the money on an SPL meter just so I could record the difference in each stage. Atm I am between audio recorders (no mp3 player even (; ) but will see if I can't work something out.

Hi, Fran82. I reached a temporary finish, and then simply forgot to clean and post all of the pics here.

All of my existing pics can be found at the second skin site, but I will make an effort to get them posted here as well this week (am traveling so have to find the time (; )
