I used Dynamat on my XB, it ran about 100 as well. For the same sq ft the Fatmat is about 50.

You are a smart man.

And the rest of you are CRAZY for spending so much for deadening.

www.edesignaudio.com/edead.htm $1 per sq. ft. and awesomely awesome too.

K,
I know this is a older forum bit I was wonding if the Liquid has the same acoustical absorbing effects as the mats claim to have.
I'm looking seriously hard at getting 5 gallons of the eDead v3 liquid and doing my vehicle as well.
Can anyone answer my question? The reason I was wondering is because I was thinking about putting a couple of coats inside my speaker box when I get it for a nice seal and to absorb some of the unwanted frequencies inside of my box. I've read of people adding Dynamat and other deadening mats inside of their sub box with good results and I need to know if the liquid will have the same results.

Also has anyone tackled this deadening project on their own with their xB? I am looking to attempt to take apart my my entire vehicle and add the v3 myself.
I need some guidance from someone with the experience.
Thanks,
Austin

i wouldn't worry about doing the inside of the speaker box unless you really wanted to i have about 4 gallons in my xb on the ceiling, floor, rear hatch and front/rear doors the body panels will flex during bass hits but they don't buzzzzzzz it actually extremly quite out of the car for how much sounds generated inside the car....i did the deadening it trakes about 45 min to tear the interior competely out....just a hint go buy your self one of those handy interior trim tools at your local auto parts store i did and it came in very handy....another hint if you use liqiud deadener use the same brush as long as possible the more goopy the brush gets it will be easier to do the roof and other hard to reach places

Cool.....How long did the project take you?
Are the effects extremely noticeable?
How did you take the roof lining off?
I have a sunroof so I think that might complicate things with the roof situation.
If you break a fastener or one of the clips to keep the door in place are replacement parts easily found?
Any pics or more guidance would be awesome.

Like, for instance, do I undo the screws that I find and simply start at the botton with the panel popping tool and pop the panel off?
It sucks not knowing what I am doing. I'll be sure to post an elaborate thread and pics in the "How to" Section once I deaden my vehicle......

I used Raamat http://www.raamaudio.com/. I have not used it yet because I am waiting on my Edead V3.0 so I can coat it over my deadening mats. Should be a nice treat once everything is installed. :D

Thanks man, I really like the site and it's convinced me that's who I should go with. Very down to earth advertising, and the videos are great backup. When christmas money rolls in, I'll be ordering 3 gallons of this stuff. How many sq. ft do you guys imagine the tC has to cover? I'm thinking about 70, not sure.

I looked at edead and decided that I didn't like the color. I was afraid I'd get it on something and it wouldn't come out. I can use V2 as an undercoating too.
Second Skin is water soluble so it cleans up with soap and water.

I just made a new thread about an internet deal on Second Skin products.
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=32583

Plus it's cheaper than edead through the special link.

So it's water soluble but will it with stand the wear and tear of a vehicle undercoating?

sorry if this has already been covered. if it has - just gimme a link. if it hasn't...
can you educate this old skool guy on both of these products - the liquid and the mat? any pics of installs?
i assume it's installed in the door panels. do you have to worry about interference w/ the windows? do you have to drop the headliner? how do you get it in the wheel wells?
i have quite a bit of road noise (passing trucks, general tire hum) coming from the wheel well areas (back especially) - what's the best way to quiet this?
i'm looking to quiet the interior - not make my sound system sound better - if that's a by-product - well then, it's all the better.
thanks.

The Dynamat and fat mat can both be found on EBay. The Dynamat is around $120 for 36 ft. the fatmat is around $100 for 100 ft.

umm here:

http://<a href="https://www.scionlif...hp?t=45593</a>

did this a while ago...

in general.. they all pretty much do the same thing.. you might want to pay attention to thickness, weight and maybe operating temperature.

I don't know about liquids vs. mats. I think liquid is pretty good for getting around uneven areas (and lighter than mats), but the main drawback is you can't stick mats on top of it (but you can apply liquid on top of mats).

Optimal configuration seems to be to use a layer of mat and layers of liquid covering it.

As of right now I believe edead to be the cheapest.. especially since its free shipping and scion life members get 20% off (if that's still active)...
